You know what caught me off guard about Alpesa Apartments? The moment I walked in, it actually felt like someone’s well-kept home rather than your typical touristy accommodation. I mean, with that 9.7 rating, I was expecting something decent, but this place on Jadranski put genuinely surprised me – and honestly, that doesn’t happen often anymore.

The location is sort of perfect if you ask me. You’re right on the coastal road, which sounds like it might be noisy, but the way the building sits back just enough, you get these amazing glimpses of the Adriatic without all the chaos of being directly on the waterfront. I could walk to Budva’s Old Town in about ten minutes (maybe fifteen if I stopped for coffee, which I always did), but here’s the thing – you’re far enough from the main tourist madness that you can actually sleep at night. The apartment I stayed in had this little balcony where I’d sit with my morning coffee, watching locals head to work while cruise ship passengers were still figuring out their breakfast plans.

What really got me was the attention to small stuff that actually matters. The kitchen had proper knives – I’m talking about knives that could cut tomatoes without massacring them. The shower had excellent water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled through the Balkans will tell you isn’t always a given. And the air conditioning worked quietly, not like some jet engine that forces you to choose between comfort and sanity. The owner (I think her name was Marija?) left detailed notes about everything from the best bakery nearby to which bus routes avoid the summer traffic snarls. She even marked up a local map showing the beach spots where families go versus where the party crowd hangs out – genuinely helpful stuff you won’t find in guidebooks.

The building itself has character without being run-down, if that makes sense. It’s got that Mediterranean apartment feel with thick walls that keep things cool and these shutters that actually block out light when you want to sleep in. Parking was straightforward too, which in Budva during July is basically a small miracle. I noticed other guests seemed to be a mix of families and couples, not the party-till-dawn crowd you sometimes get stuck with in coastal places.

Honestly, the only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi got a bit spotty during evening hours when everyone was streaming, but that’s pretty standard for Montenegro, and I was there to disconnect anyway. The whole experience felt authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – like staying with friends who happen to have impeccable taste and actually care about your comfort.
