You know what? Ana surprised me. I’ll be honest – walking up to this 3-star place, I wasn’t expecting much. The entrance is pretty understated, and from the outside it looks like one of those hotels you’d walk past without a second glance. But here’s the thing about Ana: it’s one of those places that gets the basics really, really right.

The moment I stepped into the lobby, I could tell someone actually cares about this place. It’s not fancy – I mean, we’re talking 3-star territory here – but everything feels intentional. The staff at check-in actually seemed happy to see me, which honestly doesn’t happen as often as it should. My room was ready early (always a good sign), and when I got upstairs, I was pleasantly surprised. Clean, comfortable bed that didn’t feel like sleeping on a brick, decent water pressure in the shower, and – this might sound silly but it matters – proper blackout curtains that actually block light. You’d be amazed how many hotels mess that up.

What really won me over, though, were the little touches that show they understand travelers. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (tested it in the elevator, because I’m weird like that). There’s a proper luggage rack in the room, not just some flimsy thing that collapses if you look at it wrong. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing your neighbor’s entire phone conversation at 11 PM. These might seem like small things, but when you’re tired and just want a good night’s sleep, they make all the difference. The breakfast situation is solid too – nothing Instagram-worthy, but actual food that tastes like food, and the coffee doesn’t make you question your life choices. I actually found myself lingering there in the mornings, which usually means they’re doing something right. The 8.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does well. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on the fundamentals without breaking the bank, Ana’s worth considering. Just don’t expect a rooftop pool or marble everything.

  The awesome view with the big balcony. Not much climbing in order to have good view, compared to other bookings around.

  The view from the balcony is amazing, you can see all the city from there, worth going uphill. 🙂
  The apartment was clean, nice and had everything we needed (and much more). There were boilers with a large supply of water – this was super convenient as the weather was hot. There were facilities to dry clothes, lots of dishes and tools, even a spare hat in case we didn’t have one.
  The owners were always very helpful, registered us as required by the local laws, explained how to use the coffee machine and all other facilities, stayed in touch and helped us book our train tickets later.
  
  What could be improved: The house is located on a hill (not an issue if you like walking or rent a car, would be a problem for elderly people or those with limited walking abilities)
