You know what struck me first about Apartman Anna? It’s tucked away on 13. Jula street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the cruise ship crowds haven’t figured out yet. I mean, Budva can get absolutely nuts during peak season, but this little spot maintains this almost residential calm that’s honestly refreshing.

The building itself is nothing fancy – this is Montenegro, not Monaco – but Anna (the owner) has this way of making the place feel more like staying at your friend’s apartment than some sterile hotel room. The apartments are properly equipped, not just the basics they throw in and call it a kitchenette. I actually cooked dinner a couple nights because, well, eating out every meal in Budva gets expensive fast, and there’s this great little market just a few minutes’ walk away where locals shop. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well.

What I love about the location is you’re close enough to walk to the Old Town (maybe 10 minutes if you don’t get distracted by the cafes along the way), but you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things. At night, you can actually sleep without earplugs, which – trust me on this – is not something you can say about every place in Budva. The street has this nice tree cover too, so even in July when the sun is absolutely brutal, there’s some relief when you’re walking back from the beach. Speaking of the beach, Slovenska Plaza is probably your closest bet, though honestly the whole coastline here is pretty accessible once you know your way around.

I should mention parking because everyone asks – it’s not the easiest situation, but it’s not impossible either. Anna knows the neighborhood and she’ll point you in the right direction. The whole check-in process was surprisingly smooth actually, none of that awkward key-passing or waiting around that sometimes happens with apartment rentals. She clearly has her system down. The Wi-Fi works properly (always a concern), and the air conditioning actually cools the place down, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get that wrong.

Look, this isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobby shots. But if you want a clean, comfortable base where you can live like a person instead of a tourist – make coffee in the morning, spread your stuff out, come and go as you please – Apartman Anna delivers on that promise. The three-star rating is probably about right, but honestly, stars don’t tell you much about whether you’ll actually enjoy staying somewhere. This place gets the fundamentals right, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
