I wasn’t expecting much from Apartman Budva Ivana when I first pulled up – I mean, it’s tucked away in one of those residential streets where you’re basically staying in someone’s neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. But honestly, that turned out to be exactly what made it special. The moment Ivana herself answered the door (yes, it’s actually run by Ivana), I realized this was going to be one of those authentic Montenegrin experiences you can’t really plan for. She’s got this warm, no-nonsense way about her – the kind of host who’ll give you the real scoop on which beaches the locals actually go to and warn you about the overpriced seafood joints near the Old Town walls.

The apartment itself is simple but thoughtfully done. I mean, you’re not getting fancy marble bathrooms or anything, but everything works perfectly and there’s this attention to comfort that you don’t always find in vacation rentals. The kitchen actually has proper knives and decent cookware (trust me, this matters if you hit the morning market), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable – none of that rock-hard European mattress situation. What really won me over was the little balcony where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. You’ll hear church bells mixing with the sound of delivery trucks and neighbors calling to each other across courtyards. It’s real Budva life, not the party-central version most tourists see. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which I appreciated since I was trying to work remotely for part of my stay.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the beach and maybe ten to the Old Town – close enough that you’re not stuck taking taxis everywhere, but far enough that you can actually sleep at night. Because let me tell you, if you stay right in the center during summer, you’ll be dealing with music and drunk tourists until 3 AM. Here, the biggest disturbance is maybe someone’s rooster at dawn (and honestly, I found that charming after a few days). Parking can be a bit tricky on the narrow street, but Ivana knows all the spots and she’ll sort you out. The whole experience just feels genuine in a way that’s getting harder to find in Budva. That 9.6 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s because people recognize when someone actually cares about their guests having a good time rather than just collecting booking fees.
