It’s tucked away on Mainski put, which – and here’s something most booking sites won’t tell you – is actually one of those residential streets where you’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of tour buses. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to Budva’s old town in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not dealing with the chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things.

The apartment itself has that lived-in feel that’s become pretty rare in Montenegro’s tourist zones. The owner, who I’m assuming is Vuk (though I never actually confirmed this), clearly takes care of the place without obsessing over every little detail. The kitchen has everything you’d actually use – decent-sized fridge, stovetop that works properly, even a coffee maker that doesn’t look like it’s from 1987. What really got me was the little balcony overlooking the neighborhood. You know those moments when you’re sipping morning coffee and watching locals walk their dogs while the Adriatic catches the early light in the distance? Yeah, that happened here more than once. The Wi-Fi worked fine for video calls back home, which honestly surprised me given how spotty internet can be once you get away from Budva’s center.

Here’s what you should know practically speaking – parking is actually manageable here, which is huge during summer months when finding a spot near the old town becomes this weird competitive sport. The walk to Slovenska Beach takes maybe twenty minutes if you’re not in a rush, and there’s a little market about five minutes away where you can grab basics without paying tourist prices. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be something it’s not. Sure, the shower pressure could be stronger and the bedroom gets warm on really hot afternoons, but the AC works when you need it. I stayed here in late June and honestly, the combination of being away from the party crowds while still having easy access to everything made it feel like I’d found this perfect middle ground. Plus – and this might sound weird – but the building has character. You can tell it’s been here a while and has stories, which beats those sterile new developments popping up everywhere along the coast.
