What I really liked was how the owner – I think his name was Nikola, though don’t quote me on that – actually seemed to care about the place running smoothly. Check-in was easy, he gave solid recommendations for restaurants away from the tourist traps (there’s this little spot called Konoba Stari Grad about ten minutes inland that he mentioned – incredible seafood risotto), and when our shower started making weird noises on day three, someone came to fix it within an hour. The location really grows on you too. Sure, you’re not beachfront, but honestly? Those places are loud until 3 AM and cost twice as much. From Bonik, you can walk to the Old Town walls in about eight minutes, hit the main beach in five, and there’s a decent bakery literally next door where locals actually buy their bread – always a good sign. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak summer months (July and August get pretty nuts), but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to actually explore Montenegro rather than just plant myself on the beach – it’s a solid home base without the tourist tax markup.
