Look, when I first pulled up to Apartmani Hortenzija, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But sometimes those assumptions just bite you in the ass, you know? This little gem completely caught me off guard in the best possible way.

The thing about Hortenzija is that it’s got this lived-in authenticity that a lot of places try to fake but can’t quite pull off. The apartments themselves are actually spacious – I mean genuinely roomy, not that “cozy” nonsense hotels use when they mean cramped. Each unit has this homey feel, like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which honestly saved me a fortune since I could grab groceries and make breakfast instead of paying tourist prices every morning. And the beds? Well, let’s just say I slept like the dead – no creaky springs or paper-thin pillows here.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail that you don’t notice right away. The WiFi actually works throughout the entire building (revolutionary concept, I know), and there’s this little courtyard area that’s perfect for evening drinks when the day tourists have cleared out. The host family – because that’s really what they are – genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good time. They’ll give you those insider tips that make all the difference, like which bakery opens earliest or where to park without getting a ticket. I actually ended up extending my stay by two nights because the whole experience was just so… comfortable, I guess? That 8.9 rating isn’t some fluke – people genuinely love staying here, and after spending time there, I totally get why. It’s one of those places where the sum is somehow greater than its parts, where a 3-star property delivers a 4-star experience just by doing everything right instead of trying to be fancy.

  I had an absolutely amazing stay! The room was spotless, and comfortable. Everything is exactly as shown in the pictures. There were plenty of shops nearby, making it easy to grab anything I needed.

  Really good three room design where the kitchen room serves also as the dining and courtyard area- really enjoyed sitting in the courtyard (two walls were open to the outside but covered with vines) just a pleasant place to pass time. Good aircon, sufficient cooking appliances, good bed, good bathroom, nice neighbourhood
  
  What could be improved: Not much, the bit of a longer walk to old town is cancelled out by the pleasant neighbourhood the property is in; laundry was the only issue as the property didn’t have an facilities and Budva doesn’t have many options

  The host was very kind to us from the firt day. The apartment is very nice and clean. It has been recently renovated. There is a kitchen with all the essentials and a small balcony to hang towels and swimsuits. Its location is also good a few minutes from the seafront and the bus station

  The owners were really nice and hospitable. Rooms were clean and exactly as pictures and described. Wi-Fi and Air conditioning were top notch. Overall a great expirience and a really nice apartment close to the beach. Would recommend! 🙂

  Lovely little place! Clean, relatively quiet, with everything you may need for a short stay and close to all amenities. Owners were superb, polite and communicative 👌
  
  What could be improved: Nothing, really. The kitchenette was quite small, and there was no good view from the window, but for that price it was still an absolute gem 💯

  I like the host lady. She was warm, sweet and welcoming. She made me feel comfortable during my entire stay. The room was clean and well-equipped with lighting, AC, TV, a small refrigerator, and kitchen utensils, everything was perfect, more than I expected. I would highly recommend this place.
