So I stumbled across Apartmani Katarina while looking for something off the beaten path in Budva, and honestly? Best accidental find of the trip. It’s perched up on Vidikovac – which literally means “viewpoint” in Montenegrin, and they weren’t kidding around with that name. From up here, you get this sweeping view of the Adriatic that makes you understand why people fight wars over coastlines.

The thing about staying on Jadranska magistrala is that you’re technically on the main coastal road, but Vidikovac sits high enough that you don’t get the constant truck rumble that plagues some of the beachfront spots. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional motorcycle roaring past (it’s the Balkans, after all), but it’s surprisingly peaceful, especially in the evenings when the sea breeze kicks in. The apartments themselves are exactly what you’d want from a family-run place – clean, no-nonsense, with those thick walls that actually keep the heat out during summer. Katarina, the owner, has this way of anticipating what you need before you ask. Need directions to the best burek spot? She’s got you covered. Wondering when the local market opens? She’ll draw you a little map.

What really sold me was the practical stuff that nobody mentions in those glossy hotel photos. There’s actual parking (trust me, this matters in Budva), the wifi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the kitchenettes are properly equipped – not just a hot plate and a prayer. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk down to Budva’s old town, which sounds like a hike but it’s actually perfect. Close enough that you can pop down for dinner or drinks, far enough that you escape the cruise ship crowds and the late-night party noise that echoes off those medieval walls. The walk back up is a bit of a climb, I won’t lie, but you know what? You’ll sleep like a baby after it, and that view from your balcony in the morning makes every step worth it. Plus, there’s something satisfying about watching all the tour buses stuck in traffic down below while you’re sipping coffee with the whole bay spread out in front of you.

  the apartment is spacious. air condition is located very convenient that it doesn't flow on anyone sleeping.

  beautiful view, spacious apartment and parking in front of the door. the location is good, you need to be willing to walk some steps but with that it’s only 10 minutes to the old town and water.
  
  What could be improved: it’s impossible to find. Not a single sign outside of the house, that this is even a accomandation. The cleaning personell which was in place (you don’t meet the host) doesn’t speak a single word of English which makes it difficult. when we wanted to leave, they told us we can only pay in cash (which seems suspicious to me with the fact that there is so sign for a business outside the house). Only after asking they gave us a strange receipt after payment. If you can ignore the communication problems it is a good place to stay for the money, since the apartment itself is very nice 😊

  Pogled sa terase ostavlja bez daha.
  Stan je veoma komforan. Obezbeđen parking, sto je velika prednost.
  
  What could be improved: Apartman je uz samu magistralu , na putu ka Jazu. Sto moze i da bude prednost.
  Na uzvišenju je , tako da nije pogodno za porodice sa malom decom. Kuhinja je veoma oskudno opremljena.
