The name literally means “Old Town” and I was expecting some touristy setup, but this place actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s carefully maintained family property. It’s got that solid three-star rating, but honestly, the 9.3 guest score tells the real story here – this is one of those hidden gems where the owners just get it right.

The thing about staying in Stari Grad (assuming we’re talking about the one I think we are) is that you’re right in the thick of things without the chaos. I mean, you can walk to pretty much everything that matters, but when you close the apartment door, it’s surprisingly quiet. The building itself has that old European charm – thick walls that actually keep sound out, unlike some of these newer places. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that corporate hotel rigmarole. The owners clearly take pride in what they’re doing, and it shows in the small touches. Fresh linens that smell like actual sunshine, not industrial detergent. A kitchen that’s properly stocked – I’m talking real dishes and utensils, not plastic nonsense.

What really sold me was the neighborhood vibe. You’ve got local cafés where people actually live and work nearby, not just tourist traps. The morning sounds are genuine – church bells, people heading to work, maybe some old-timer walking his dog. There’s a grocery store close enough that you don’t need to plan a whole expedition, and the evening strolls feel safe and pleasant. Parking can be a bit tricky (isn’t it always in old town centers?), but honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t want to drive much anyway. The apartment itself feels lived-in in the best way – comfortable furniture that’s seen some use but isn’t falling apart, decent water pressure, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air. It’s the kind of place where you can picture yourself making coffee in the morning and planning your day without feeling like you’re camping out in someone else’s space. For the price point, you’re getting way more personality and comfort than any chain hotel would give you.

  The apartment is in the heart of the old town, very clean, with facilities that you need during vacation. The owner is simply amazing and very helpful. Even though it is in old town you may ask if the music is going to bother you – I can freely tell you it wont since you will go out too and you wont notice it at all. The Church bell in the morning may scare you but it is not a big issue.
