Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartments Apollonia Budva on Žrtava Fašizma street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those expectations work in your favor, because this little spot actually surprised me in the best way.

The thing about Budva is that everyone talks about the Old Town and the beaches (which, fair enough, are gorgeous), but staying right on this street puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk everywhere but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the constant party noise that echoes through the medieval walls at 2 AM. I mean, you’ll still hear some music drifting over from the clubs near Slovenska Plaža, but it’s more like a distant hum than feeling like you’re sleeping inside a speaker. The apartments themselves have this unpretentious charm – they’re clean, functional, and honestly better maintained than some 4-star places I’ve crashed at along the coast. The kitchenettes actually work (novel concept, I know), and there’s something refreshing about being able to grab fresh produce from the local market and make your own breakfast instead of paying hotel prices for mediocre continental spreads.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about Montenegro as a destination, not just getting you in and out. The woman at reception – I wish I remembered her name – spent like twenty minutes drawing me a hand-sketched map to this little bakery that opens at 6 AM, plus the best route to avoid the cruise ship crowds when they descend on the Old Town around 10. That’s the kind of local intel you just can’t Google. The walk to Mogren Beach takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush, and honestly, those few extra steps weed out some of the crowds anyway. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during July and August – the street fills up pretty quick – but there’s usually spots available if you’re willing to walk a block or two. The building itself has this slightly worn-in feeling that somehow works; it’s not Instagram-perfect, but it feels real, lived-in, like staying at a friend’s place rather than some sterile chain property. The balconies face different directions, so ask about sunset views if that matters to you. And here’s a random tip nobody tells you: the grocery store down the hill stays open later than most, which is clutch when you realize you need water and snacks for a beach day. For what you pay and where you are, it’s honestly hard to complain about much here.

Early hotels booking in Budva requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s renowned beaches and vibrant nightlife.
