Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Apartments Bečić – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and you know how those can go either way. But this little spot in Bečići actually surprised me in the best possible way. The building itself is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with marble lobbies and then disappoint you everywhere else.

What really got me was how well they’ve thought through the apartment layouts. I’ve stayed in plenty of self-catering places that feel like someone just shoved a kitchenette into a hotel room and called it a day, but these actually feel like… well, like apartments. The kitchen in mine had proper counter space (you’d be amazed how rare that is), and honestly, the whole place just felt livable rather than touristy. The balcony – and you’ll want to request one with a view if you can – looks out toward the water, which is exactly why you’re in Bečići anyway. You can actually hear the waves in the morning when the town’s still quiet, before all the beach umbrellas go up and the day trippers arrive.

The location is pretty much perfect for what most people want from this area. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to the beach – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and there’s this little bakery just down the hill that does these amazing burek pastries early in the morning. The staff there started recognizing me by day three, which says something about both the bakery and how predictable my breakfast habits are. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak season (July and August get absolutely crazy), but the hotel has some spots and the neighborhood streets aren’t impossible if you don’t mind a short walk. One thing I really appreciated – the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, no upselling or complicated explanations, just here’s your key and here’s how the WiFi works.

I mean, look, this isn’t the Ritz, and the furnishing is more IKEA than boutique, but everything works properly and it’s genuinely clean. The shower pressure is decent (honestly better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed), and the air conditioning actually keeps up with those sweltering August afternoons. The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does well. If you’re the type who needs turndown service and fancy toiletries, keep looking. But if you want a comfortable base for exploring Budva and the coast without paying resort prices, and you actually prefer having your own space to spread out, this place really delivers on that promise.
