I walked past Apartments Elena probably three times before realizing this was actually my hotel – it’s tucked into the neighborhood in such a natural way that it doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation” at you. Though let me tell you, there are some fantastic little spots within easy walking distance if you do want to venture out.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night. During the day there’s that gentle hum of neighborhood life – people chatting on their way to work, the occasional delivery truck – but come evening, it settles into this really peaceful rhythm. The windows actually seal properly (minor detail, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong), so even the light sleepers in your group should be fine. The rating of 8.9 makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s not flashy enough to be a perfect 10, but there’s this solid reliability to everything. Hot water when you want it, Wi-Fi that actually works for video calls, cleaning staff who manage to be thorough without making you feel like you’re in their way. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that “let me walk you through seventeen amenities you’ll never use” routine, just the key information and a genuine recommendation for dinner that actually turned out to be spot-on. I think what I appreciated most was how the place lets the surrounding area shine instead of trying to be its own little isolated bubble. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to the actual rhythm of the place, not just passing through some international hotel template that could be anywhere in the world.
