Honestly, when I first spotted Apartments LORA tucked away on Zmajeva street, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s one of those quiet residential roads that most tourists walk right past on their way to the Old Town. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The building sits in this sweet spot where you’re still close enough to hear the distant hum of Budva’s nightlife (maybe a 7-minute walk to the main action), but far enough away that you can actually get some sleep without earplugs.

The apartments themselves have this lived-in comfort that a lot of places try to fake but can’t quite pull off. I mean, these aren’t Instagram-perfect spaces, but they’re genuinely functional – like someone actually thought about where you’d want to put your suitcase or charge your phone. The kitchen had proper utensils (not those flimsy tourist rental sets), and the wifi was surprisingly solid even when half of Budva seemed to be streaming something during those evening hours. What really got me was the little balcony – nothing fancy, just enough space for morning coffee while watching the locals head off to work. There’s something quietly satisfying about seeing the real rhythm of a place, especially in Montenegro where the pace feels refreshingly unhurried compared to other coastal hotspots.

The location thing is tricky to explain without sounding like a travel brochure, but here’s the deal: you’re positioned perfectly between the medieval charm of Stari Grad and the beachy chaos of the main tourist strip. Walk one direction and you hit those narrow cobblestone alleys with their overpriced but atmospheric restaurants; walk the other and you’re at beaches where locals actually swim (not just the ones packed with cruise ship crowds). Parking was… well, let’s just say it’s Montenegro, so street parking requires some patience and maybe a few three-point turns. But honestly, once you’re settled, you barely need the car anyway. The whole area feels walkable, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks down Zmajeva that does these incredible burek pastries – the kind of random discovery that makes a trip memorable. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I wanted that balance of being in Budva but not completely overwhelmed by it.
