You know what struck me first about Apartments Lux? It’s actually on Mediteranska street, which honestly doesn’t sound like much until you realize you’re basically in the sweet spot of Budva – close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away from the chaos that hits the main drag during peak season. I mean, you can walk to the Old Town in maybe ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the street performers and restaurant touts right outside your window at midnight.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in this part of Montenegro. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit and it felt more like someone’s actual home than a typical hotel room – there’s a proper kitchen where you can make coffee the way you like it (thank god, because Balkan hotel coffee can be… well, let’s just say it’s strong). The balcony overlooks the neighborhood, and if you lean out a bit you can catch glimpses of the Adriatic. Nothing dramatic, but it’s there. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Mediteranska isn’t one of those streets where delivery trucks rumble through at 6 AM, so you actually sleep. The AC works properly too, which honestly isn’t always a given around here, especially during those brutal July afternoons when the heat just sits on everything.

Here’s the thing about staying at Lux – it puts you right in the middle of actual Budva life instead of the tourist bubble. There’s a small market about two blocks away where locals shop (you’ll know it by the older women carrying those wheeled shopping bags), and the family running the apartments genuinely seems to care about the place. They gave us the real scoop on which beaches get too crowded and when, plus that little restaurant recommendation that ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. The 9.7 rating makes sense when you experience this kind of attention – it’s not fancy in a show-off way, but everything just works like it should. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re renting a car, but there’s usually something within a block or two. I’d definitely come back, especially during shoulder season when Budva shows its quieter, more charming side and you can really appreciate having a comfortable base like this to return to after wandering the coastal paths all day.

  The room was gorgeous and had a lovely sea view. We were given additional towels and toiletries and the hosts arranged the tourist tax for us. There is a shopping centre over the phone and a short walk to the marina and many restaurants.
