Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Apartments Radonjic in Lastva Grbaljska – it’s one of those spots that doesn’t scream “tourist destination” from the outside, but you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I ended up loving it. The building sits quietly in this residential area just outside Budva proper, and while it might not have the flashy lobby of those beachfront hotels, there’s something refreshingly authentic about the whole setup. The owner, who I’m guessing is part of the Radonjic family, actually gave me directions in broken English mixed with enthusiastic hand gestures, which somehow worked perfectly.

What really won me over was the apartment itself – and I mean, calling it just a “3-star” place feels like they’re underselling themselves a bit. The space was genuinely spacious (not that cramped hotel room nonsense), with a proper kitchenette that actually had decent cookware, which is rare. The balcony overlooks the neighborhood, and on clear mornings you can catch glimpses of the Adriatic between the houses. Sure, it’s not a direct sea view, but honestly, the trade-off is worth it – you’re maybe a 10-minute walk down to the coast, but you’re paying probably half what those waterfront places charge. Plus, there’s this little bakery about two blocks away that locals hit up for morning burek, and the smell of fresh bread drifting through the streets at 7 AM is better than any room service menu.

The practical stuff matters too, and this place gets it right in ways that surprised me. Parking is actually available (try finding that in central Budva during summer), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter landing. I stayed there in late June, which is when things start getting crazy busy around Budva, but Lastva Grbaljska stays relatively quiet – you’ll hear some neighborhood sounds, maybe someone’s TV or kids playing outside, but it’s the kind of background noise that actually makes you feel like you’re experiencing real Montenegro, not just some sanitized tourist bubble. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you factor in the value proposition here. It’s not luxury, but it’s comfortable, clean, and the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and actually live a bit instead of just crashing between beach sessions.

  The location is great , calm and very family friendly. The owner Evan was so kind and great .. greeted us well and welcomed us.
  Evan was helping every tourist at his place providing information about the city and recommended great places. We also had dinner at his place and it was great and yummy .. if you eat meat then you should definitely try fish and chicken dishes. Evan made great dinner for us and all other guests .. this guy is great and I strongly recommend this place and will definitely visit one more time this year

  The location is good — a few miles outside Budva and on a quiet street, but with easy access to the main road; the property itself is fabulous. I loved sitting by the river that runs on the property and underneath the kiwi vines.
  The owners are excellent people — friendly and very helpful. And really good cooks, too.
  The room was clean and decently supplied. There's good storage in the bedroom.
  There is a grocery store at the end of the street as well as a bakery with delicious goods.
  
  What could be improved: The internet did not work in the bedroom, at all. The owners were really nice and helped set up a table in the kitchen — the only place in the apartment where I had functioning internet — so I can do a few work calls. Outside it worked just fine, but … bugs and noise. And even when it worked, it would sometimes have hiccups and calls would drop.
  The pillows were a uncomfortable — too thick and too firm — and I'm a side sleeper.
  There's only one power outlet available in the kitchen, so you have to choose between the electric kettle and the microwave. Only one easily-accessible outlet in the bedroom; there are two more but they're hidden behind the headboards.

  What could be improved: On that day I booked a room in this accommodation around 8 pm via the booking app. I got a confirmation from booking. Everything was fine, like all the other bookings I made on this trip. 1,5 hours later, when I almost arrived at this accommodation the owner send my a WhatsApp that my credit card did not go trough and I should look for another place to stay. I told her that I had no trouble with my card before and that I will pay in cash anyway. Because it was almost 10 pm I continue to drive to this place, because it must had been a misunderstanding. When I arrived at this accommodation they told me they had no room left where I could stay even though I got a confirmation. However they would help me to find another place to stay and they said my booking with them would be cancelled automatically. So there was no choice for me and we booked another accommodation in Budva via booking but for the new place I had to drive another 20 minutes or so. Around that time it was already 11 pm and I got really tired. This was not a good experience to me and I don’t understand why this happened.
