You know what’s funny about traveling? Sometimes the places that don’t look like much from the outside end up being exactly what you needed. That’s Apartments Tijana for you – I mean, with a 9.9 rating, I had pretty high expectations, but honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place. Turns out, sometimes the star system doesn’t tell the whole story.

First thing that struck me was how genuinely welcoming Tijana (yeah, it’s actually run by Tijana herself, which explains a lot) made everything feel. She’s one of those hosts who somehow remembers that you mentioned wanting to try the local bakery and leaves you directions the next morning. The apartments themselves are clean in that satisfying way – not sterile hotel clean, but more like staying at your most organized friend’s place. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how apartment rentals can be a total gamble with mattresses), and there’s this attention to little details that you don’t always get. Like, decent water pressure in the shower, enough outlets near the bed for your phone, and – this might sound silly – but proper hangers in the closet instead of those weird ones that don’t come off the rod.

What really makes this place work is that Tijana clearly knows her neighborhood inside and out, and she’s not shy about sharing that knowledge. She’ll tell you which café makes the best morning coffee and is actually open early (apparently half the places Google says are open at 7 AM… aren’t), or where to grab groceries without paying tourist prices. The location itself is residential enough that you feel like you’re getting a real taste of how locals live, but you’re not stranded somewhere with nothing around. I could walk to restaurants and shops easily, though I’ll be honest – it’s not right in the thick of the main tourist zone, which was actually perfect for me. You get your exploring done during the day, then come back to somewhere that actually quiets down at night. The Wi-Fi works well if you need to get some work done, and there’s decent natural light if you’re the type who gets depressed in dark spaces. One small thing – the check-in process is refreshingly straightforward, none of that corporate hotel rigmarole. Tijana just wants to make sure you have everything you need and know how to work the coffee machine. That 9.9 rating? After staying there, it makes total sense. It’s not fancy, but it’s exactly what it promises to be, done really well.
