You know what struck me first about Villa Andjela? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with fancy lobbies or marble everything, but somehow ends up being exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for. I mean, it’s technically apartment-style accommodation, which initially had me wondering if I’d made the right call – but honestly, after staying there, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to be crammed into a regular hotel room when you could have actual space to breathe.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly well thought out. You’ve got proper kitchens (not those sad little kitchenettes with a mini-fridge and prayer), decent-sized living areas, and bedrooms that actually feel separate from where you’re hanging out during the day. The owners clearly put some real attention into the details – good water pressure in the showers, blackout curtains that actually work, and Wi-Fi that doesn’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window. I was there during what I’d guess was peak season, and while you could hear some activity from other units occasionally, it never felt intrusive. The walls are solid enough that you’re not getting a play-by-play of your neighbors’ vacation conversations.

What really sells this place, though, is that it feels like staying in someone’s neighborhood rather than in tourist-land. You’ll find yourself walking the same routes as people who actually live there, discovering little cafes and shops that aren’t trying to separate you from your money with overpriced “authentic local cuisine.” The staff – well, I hesitate to call them staff because it feels more like staying with friends who happen to be really good at hospitality – genuinely seem to care whether you’re having a decent time. They’re the kind of people who’ll give you directions to places they actually go, not just the spots that pay them commissions. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward hovering-around-the-desk-while-they-find-your-reservation dance that seems to happen everywhere else. That 9.2 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s what happens when a place just consistently does the basics really, really well without making a big deal about it.

  Andjela and her family are great hosts who welcomed us and made us feel comfortable in the apartment. The apartment has everything you need. It is quiet remote so you do need a car to get there but other than that it was beautiful and more than what we expected.

  There is basicly everything in the rooms that one may need. The rooms are in good condition. Nice balcony.
  
  What could be improved: Loud musik very close to the location every night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Well heard in the rooms even with the closed windows. The floor was really dirty, definitely not cleaned before our arrival. The bedclothes were also not fresh.

  Bardzo mili właściciele, pomocni, z którymi był stały kontakt. Bardzo ładna okolica domu i czysty apartament. Codziennie wyrzucane śmieci przez właścicieli.

  Le cadre est très agréable avec une belle vue depuis la terrasse. Le logement est propre, bien équipé et moderne.
  Je tiens à remercier encore Dragan, le mari d’Andela qui nous a déposé gratuitement en voiture à la gare routière à 7h du matin (nous avions un bus très tôt et il était compliqué de réserver à l’avance un taxi).
  
  What could be improved: Le seul point négatif est la distance par rapport à la vieille ville : près de 3 km. Le problème n’est pas tant la distance, mais le fait que le logement est vraiment sur les hauteurs (montée raide). Il n’y a aucun transport en commun pour y aller : la voiture est donc indispensable, sauf à marcher beaucoup.
