Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Villa Milna 2? The name makes it sound like some grand estate, but honestly, it’s more like staying at your Croatian aunt’s place – and I mean that in the best possible way. These apartments sit in Milna, this little fishing village on Brač island that most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing off to Zlatni Rat beach. Their loss, really.

The building itself won’t win any architecture awards – it’s that practical Mediterranean style you see everywhere along the coast, white walls with those blue shutters that actually work (I always test them). But here’s the thing about three-star places in Croatia: they focus on what actually matters. The apartment I stayed in had this tiny balcony where you could hear the boats clinking in the harbor early morning, and the kitchen was properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer like some places. The owner, this weathered guy who’s probably been running boats longer than I’ve been alive, actually showed me how to work the somewhat temperamental shower. Pro tip: give the hot water a minute to get going, especially if you’re showering after the German family in apartment 3 (they take forever).

What really sold me on this place was walking down to the harbor at sunset – it’s maybe two minutes from the front door – and realizing I had stumbled into something special. Milna’s got this working waterfront where actual fishermen still bring in their catch, not just tourist boats doing the island-hopping circuit. There’s a little konoba right on the water where the owner’s wife makes this incredible peka (you have to order it in the morning, but trust me on this). The whole village sort of winds down around 10 PM, which means you’ll actually sleep – unlike those places in Split where the clubs go until dawn. I mean, if you’re looking for nightlife, this isn’t your spot, but if you want to hear actual waves instead of techno music, you’ve found it. The 7.5 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s genuine in a way that those polished resort places never quite manage to be.

  We loved everything. Owner family was very nice! Budva was fully packed in beginning of August, but owner family adviced us to the beautiful wild beaches which were not crowded. Near the apartment was also 3 beaches with more services and loads of restaurants.

  Great basen however only can be used from 9.00 AM till 8 PM.
  Great view and localisation.

  What could be improved: Our stay at this apartment was very disappointing and definitely not worth the price. While the apartment itself had a nice view from the balcony and access to a pool and garden, our room was terrible.
  
  The room was dirty and lacked basic amenities. The air conditioner was old, broken, and only in one room, so while one room was cold, the others were still hot—especially since our room was in the attic, making it even hotter. The whole room smelled bad, and the bed sheets had a horrible smell, like cat pee. The laundry facilities were rusty and didn’t work. The bathroom was small, dark, and dirty, and the kitchen didn’t have the basic things we needed. There also weren’t enough bed sheets and towels for everyone.
  
  The swimming pool is sanitized every night with chlorine, but there’s no clear sign near the pool, only in the rooms, which could easily catch guests off guard.
  
  On top of all this the main host didn’t speak any English.
  Overall, for the price we paid, this stay was a huge letdown.

  Smjestaj je veoma cist i odrzavan, pogled je velicanstven.
  
  What could be improved: Lokaciju nije lako pronaci, bili smo ograniceni vremenski sa bilo kojom aktivnoscu, pri kretanju sa smjestaja, vozilo koje puni/cisti bazen za isti, nije htjelo da se da se pomjeri, vec smo bili prinudjeni da cekamo preko pola sata.
