Bobo Apartment

You know what surprised me about Bobo Apartment? I walked up those stairs on Žrtava Fašizma (don’t worry, locals just call it “the street behind the old market”) expecting another basic Budva rental, but this place actually has character. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Montenegro – sort of that post-war architecture that’s everywhere in the Balkans – but once you’re inside, it feels like someone actually cares about the details.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re the type who wants to experience Budva without staying right in the tourist chaos. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Slovenska Plaža, but you won’t hear drunk Serbians singing folk songs at 3 AM (trust me, that’s a thing in the Old Town area). The apartment sits on the first floor – which means second floor if you’re American, ground floor is considered zero here – and there’s something satisfying about having that little bit of elevation without dealing with too many stairs when you’re hauling beach gear. Parking can be tricky during July and August, I mean, it’s Budva so that’s expected, but the side streets usually have spots if you don’t mind walking an extra block.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The kitchen actually has proper knives and more than two plates – you’d be amazed how many places here give you plastic everything and expect you to be grateful. The WiFi works consistently (tested it during a work call, no drops), and the AC doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, which honestly puts it ahead of half the “luxury” places I’ve stayed at along the coast. The bathroom’s small but functional, with decent water pressure – again, not always a given in older Budva buildings. There’s this little balcony that catches morning sun perfectly if you’re an early coffee person, and you can actually see a slice of the Adriatic between the buildings if you crane your neck just right. The whole setup feels like someone’s grandmother’s apartment that got a modern refresh – comfortable furniture that doesn’t look like it came from a hotel catalog, local touches here and there. That 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a night here; it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely well-done. For a 3-star place in Montenegro, where standards can be… let’s say flexible… this feels like finding a little gem that hasn’t been ruined by mass tourism yet.
