Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Boutique Hotel Moonstar – I mean, it’s tucked away on 29. Novembra street, which most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing down to the main strip. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. The building has this understated elegance that feels refreshingly authentic in a town where half the hotels are trying way too hard to impress.

The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. The lobby isn’t huge or flashy, but everything feels deliberately chosen – from the locally-sourced stone accents to the way the morning light hits those vintage Montenegro photographs on the walls. What really got me was the staff; they know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about getting to Slovenska Beach without the tourist crowds, the receptionist didn’t just point me toward the obvious route – she sketched out this little side path that locals use, complete with a warning about the steps being slippery when wet. That’s the kind of insight you just don’t get at the big chain places.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple.” Mine faced the courtyard, which meant it stayed blissfully quiet even during Budva’s peak summer chaos (trust me, you’ll appreciate this if you’ve ever tried to sleep near the Old Town on a Saturday night). The bathroom was compact but well-designed – honestly, better water pressure than I had at a five-star place in Kotor last year. One small thing that stuck with me: they actually provide decent coffee in the rooms, not those terrible instant packets that make you question your life choices. And the WiFi? Rock solid throughout the building, which is surprisingly rare in this part of Montenegro.

What really sets Moonstar apart is its location – you’re close enough to walk to Budva’s medieval walls in about eight minutes, but far enough away that you can actually have a conversation at normal volume on your balcony. The neighborhood has this lovely residential feel, with actual Montenegrins going about their daily lives instead of just endless souvenir shops. There’s a fantastic local bakery called Pekara Ana literally around the corner (get the burek, seriously), and if you walk five minutes toward the water, you’ll hit a stretch of coast that’s way less crowded than the main beaches.

I’ll be honest – this isn’t the place if you need a spa or a rooftop bar or someone to carry your luggage while playing violin music. But if you want a genuinely comfortable base for exploring Budva without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist bubble, Moonstar nails it. The 8.9 rating makes perfect sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, just doing the important stuff really, really well.

  • Exceptional – Maksim from Russia – June 18, 2025 (10/10)

I had a wonderful stay at Boutique Hotel Moonstar in Budva. Everything was perfectly clean, and the host was incredibly friendly and communicative. The location is also excellent — close to the sea and everything you want.

Out of many hotels I contacted, this was the only one that agreed to prepare the necessary documents for my business trip. They also helped me immediately with paying the tourist tax, which was much appreciated.

A special thank you to the host and the entire team — your hospitality made a big difference. I’m already looking forward to returning to Budva and staying at Moonstar again!

Tesis dört dörtlüktü. Tesiste çalışan Türktü ve bize çok yardımcı oldu sahile 2 dakikalık yürüme mesafesindeydi hemen önünde marketi vardı balkondan budva manzarasını ve denizi görebiliyordunuz.

  • Exceptional – Ahmet from Turkey – July 22, 2025 (10/10)
