Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Central Budva M Lux Apartments on Vojvođanska ulica, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the rating stars don’t tell the whole story, and this is definitely one of those times.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out Budva’s layout. You’re tucked away on this quiet residential street (which means you can actually sleep at night – trust me on this one, because central Budva can get wild during summer), but it’s maybe a 7-minute walk to the Old Town walls. I mean, you can literally see the medieval fortress from some of the apartments, which is sort of incredible when you think about it. The beach is close enough that you’ll hear the morning vendors setting up their umbrellas, but far enough that you won’t get the party crowd stumbling past your window at 3 AM. There’s this little bakery – Pekara Nikola – just around the corner where locals actually go for their morning burek, not some tourist trap charging double for stale pastries.
What really got me was the attention to detail inside these apartments. The owner, this lovely woman named Marija, clearly lives and breathes hospitality – she’ll text you parking directions before you even ask (because yes, parking in Budva is exactly as complicated as everyone says). The apartments themselves feel more like someone’s well-appointed home than a rental. I’m talking proper coffee makers, not those tiny hotel pods, and the bathrooms have these rainfall showers that actually have decent water pressure. The AC works properly too, which honestly saved my life during that brutal July heat wave. You get a little balcony with most units, and while it’s not huge, it’s perfect for morning coffee while watching the town wake up – there’s something really peaceful about seeing the fishing boats head out early before the beach crowds arrive.
The building itself is newer construction, so you don’t get those charming stone walls like in the Old Town, but you also don’t get the medieval plumbing issues either. Small trade-off, I’d say. Marija stocks the fridge with local basics – proper Montenegrin cheese, fresh bread, even some of that strong Turkish coffee if you’re brave enough. She’ll also give you the real scoop on restaurants (skip the waterfront places in August, hit up Konoba Stari Grad instead) and which beaches are worth the trek versus just convenient.
I mean, a 9.8 rating sounds almost too good to be true, right? But after staying here twice now – once in shoulder season, once during the summer madness – I get it. It’s not fancy in that Instagram-perfect way, but everything just works. The WiFi doesn’t cut out during video calls, the kitchen has actual sharp knives, and you feel like you’re staying in Budva rather than just passing through some sterile hotel bubble. Plus, honestly, the value is incredible – you’re getting apartment-style space and local insights for what you’d pay for a basic hotel room closer to the marina, where you’d be dealing with cruise ship crowds and restaurant music until midnight.
To book a hotel in Budva during peak Mediterranean season, travelers need early planning as this coastal gem draws visitors eager to experience its pristine beaches and historic old town.
