Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The name “Central comfy apartment” actually undersells it – I mean, yeah, it’s comfortable, but there’s something really charming about staying in Velji Vinogradi that the typical Budva hotel experience just doesn’t capture. This neighborhood sits just above the main tourist chaos, which honestly is perfect because you’re close enough to walk down to the Old Town (maybe 15 minutes on foot), but you’re not dealing with the summer crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM.
The apartment itself has that lived-in feel that I actually prefer over sterile hotel rooms – you’ll find little touches that make it clear someone cares about this place. The kitchen is properly equipped, not just for show, which is huge if you want to grab fresh produce from the local market and actually cook something. What really won me over though was stepping out onto the balcony in the morning with coffee and realizing you can see glimpses of the Adriatic between the buildings, plus you’re getting this authentic slice of how Montenegrins actually live. The street itself is quiet during the day, mostly locals going about their business, but it comes alive in the evenings when families are out walking – there’s this great little bakery just around the corner where the smell of fresh bread hits you every morning around 7.
Here’s the thing about staying here versus the beachfront places – you’re trading the immediate beach access for a real neighborhood experience, and honestly, I think it’s worth it. The walk down to Budva’s center takes you through parts of town most tourists never see, and you’ll pass this excellent little restaurant (locals call it “kod Mira”) that doesn’t even have a proper sign but serves the best ćevapi I had in Montenegro. Parking can be a bit tricky – I mean, it’s Montenegro, street parking is always an adventure – but the owner was really helpful with suggestions. The 10/10 rating makes sense once you realize what you’re getting: it’s not luxury, but it’s authentic comfort in a spot that lets you live like a local while still being a tourist. Plus, during shoulder season, this area is incredibly peaceful, though I’d imagine July and August get busier when all the Serbian families come for vacation. If you’re the type who wants to experience Budva beyond the beach clubs and crowded promenades, this little apartment in Velji Vinogradi gives you exactly that.
