Coasthouse Budva

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Coasthouse Budva when I first pulled up to Maslinski put – it’s this quiet residential street that honestly feels more like where locals live than where tourists stay. But that’s actually what makes this place special. It’s a proper 3-star hotel that somehow punches way above its weight, and I mean that in the best possible way. The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you, especially when you realize you’re getting genuine hospitality instead of the cookie-cutter experience you’d find at the big chain hotels closer to the Old Town.

The location is brilliant once you figure it out – you’re maybe a 10-minute walk from all the Budva madness, but when you want to escape the crowds (and trust me, you will during peak season), you can actually breathe here. Maslinski put is lined with these Mediterranean pines that give everything a pleasant, piney scent, especially in the early morning when you’re heading out for coffee. The staff genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which sounds like such a small thing until you’ve stayed at places where everyone acts like they’d rather be anywhere else. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or surprise “resort charges” that seem to pop up everywhere these days.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms are clean and comfortable without trying to be something they’re not, the wifi actually works (crucial if you’re trying to upload those sunset photos from Sveti Stefan), and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the shower pressure is fantastic. After spending days walking around Budva’s cobblestones or hiking up to the fortress, a proper shower feels like luxury. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night too, which is perfect if you’re the type who needs decent sleep but still wants to be close enough to stumble back from the Old Town after a night out. Honestly, for the price point and the experience, I’d choose Coasthouse Budva over some of the flashier options any day – sometimes the best travel discoveries are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you.
