Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Cosy Apartment Vera on Ivana Gorana Kovačića, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best travel surprises come from exactly these kinds of spots that don’t try too hard to impress you upfront.

The thing about this location in Bečići is that you’re actually getting the best of both worlds without realizing it at first. You’re tucked away on a quiet residential street (which means you can actually sleep at night – trust me on this one), but you’re literally a 5-minute walk to some of the nicest beach stretches along this part of the Montenegrin coast. I mean, forget about the crowded Budva waterfront madness – Bečići beach is where locals go when they want space to breathe. The apartment itself has this lived-in comfort that you just can’t fake in those sterile hotel chains. Vera clearly knows what travelers actually need – the kitchen is properly equipped (not just for show), there’s decent water pressure in the shower, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like so many places around here do. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a rental, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to settle in somewhere new.

What really sold me on this place was the little details that only someone who’s been hosting travelers for years would think of. There’s actually enough closet space for more than two shirts, the curtains are thick enough to block out the morning sun if you want to sleep in, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the coffee cups are the right size. You know how some places give you those tiny espresso cups when you just want a proper morning coffee? Not here. Plus, Vera herself is one of those hosts who strikes the perfect balance between being helpful and giving you space. She’ll point you toward the good bakery down the street (not the tourist trap one) and tell you which bus to take into Budva’s old town, but she’s not hovering around making you feel like you can’t relax. The walk into central Budva takes maybe 15 minutes if you’re not in a hurry, and there’s this little seaside path that’s honestly prettier than the main road anyway. During peak summer season, you’ll appreciate being able to escape back to this quieter pocket of Bečići when the old town gets overwhelming with all the day-trippers. I’ve stayed in Montenegro a handful of times now, and this is the kind of place I’d actually book again – which, for a picky traveler like me, says everything you need to know.
