Okay, so D&D Apartment 1 might have the most generic name ever, but honestly? Don’t let that fool you. I stumbled across this place almost by accident, and it turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel slightly smug about finding it before everyone else does.

First thing you notice when you walk in – and I mean this in the best way – is how it doesn’t try too hard. You know those places that are so perfectly staged they feel like a museum? This isn’t that. It’s got this lived-in elegance thing going on, like someone with really good taste actually lives here and just happens to let travelers crash for a while. The furniture feels substantial, not that flimsy stuff you’re afraid to sit on too hard. And the lighting – well, whoever set it up actually understood that people need to see what they’re doing but don’t want to feel like they’re in an office building.

What really gets me though is how they’ve nailed the details that most places completely miss. The shower pressure is actually decent (you’d be amazed how rare this is), and there’s enough counter space in the bathroom that you’re not playing Tetris with your toiletries. The kitchen setup is proper too – I mean, there’s a real coffee maker, not one of those pod things that makes sad office coffee. You can tell someone who actually travels had input on the layout because everything’s where you’d naturally reach for it. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and – this might sound weird – but the pillows are actually the right height. Not too flat, not so puffy you feel like you’re drowning.

The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not perfect – I mean, nothing is – but the things that might annoy you are pretty minor. Maybe the elevator’s a bit slow, or you might hear some street noise if you’re a really light sleeper, but honestly, these feel like nitpicks when everything else works so well. The staff (well, the person I dealt with during check-in) was refreshingly normal – helpful without being weirdly enthusiastic, you know? They actually knew stuff about the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on it though – it feels like a place you could actually live in for a while, not just survive in. There’s something about the whole setup that makes you want to slow down a bit, maybe grab groceries and cook dinner instead of eating out every night. The space breathes properly, if that makes sense. You’re not constantly bumping into furniture or feeling cramped. And when you’re paying for a 4-star place, that’s exactly what you want – somewhere that enhances your trip instead of just being a place to sleep between activities.
