You know what’s funny about Hotel Dagana? From the outside, you’d probably walk right past it thinking it’s just another modest three-star place tucked away on Rakita Street. But honestly, that would be a huge mistake – I mean, there’s a reason this little gem somehow manages to pull a perfect 10 rating, and it’s not by accident.

The thing about staying here is that you’re actually getting the best of both worlds without realizing it at first. You’re close enough to Budva’s Old Town that you can stumble back from those late-night seafront bars without breaking the bank on taxis (maybe a 7-8 minute walk, tops), but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the summer chaos. And trust me, if you’ve ever tried sleeping in central Budva during peak season with all those beach clubs pumping music until 3 AM… well, you’ll appreciate the relative quiet up on Rakita. The staff here actually seem to care – like, genuinely care – which is honestly refreshing in a tourist town where half the places treat you like you’re just another credit card transaction. They remember your name after the first day, they’ll point you toward the local bakery that opens early (not the overpriced tourist traps), and when I mentioned I was trying to catch a specific bus to Kotor, the front desk guy actually walked outside to show me exactly where the stop was.

What really gets me about this place is the attention to small stuff that most hotels completely ignore. The rooms aren’t fancy – let’s be clear about that – but everything works properly, the AC doesn’t sound like a dying helicopter, and somehow they’ve managed to get the Wi-Fi right, which is more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed at along the Montenegrin coast.
