The building itself is one of those modern apartment blocks that’s popping up everywhere along the Montenegrin coast, but DimaX has figured out how to make it work. The elevator’s reliable – thank god, because thirteen flights would be brutal with luggage – and the apartments are actually spacious enough that you’re not bumping into your travel companion every five seconds. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re basically in the heart of everything. The walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing your neighbors’ TV shows, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in the Balkans. The kitchenette is properly equipped too, not just some token mini-fridge situation, so if you want to hit the local market and cook some of that amazing Montenegrin produce, you actually can.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re walking distance from Budva’s old town (maybe eight minutes if you’re taking your time), but you’re far enough up the hill that you miss most of the late-night party noise that can make the waterfront areas pretty intense during summer. The beach is right there when you want it, but you’ve got this sort of residential feel that makes it comfortable for longer stays. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this part of Budva – I ended up walking a couple blocks most days – but that’s pretty standard for anywhere decent in Montenegro. The host was actually helpful with local tips, not just the usual tourist trap recommendations, and check-in was straightforward even when my flight got delayed. Honestly, that 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but it nails the basics really well and gives you a genuine taste of what it’s like to live in Budva rather than just pass through.
