Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Dream 1 apartment on Velji Vinogradi street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes ratings don’t tell the whole story, and this little gem absolutely proves that point with its 9.5 rating.

The location is actually brilliant in that understated way that locals appreciate but tourists often miss. You’re tucked into this quiet residential area that feels authentically Montenegrin – I mean, you’ll hear neighbors chatting over their morning coffee and kids playing in courtyards, which honestly beats another sterile hotel lobby any day. Velji Vinogradi translates to “big vineyards” if you’re curious, and while the actual vineyards are long gone, the street still has this laid-back, almost rural vibe despite being maybe a 10-minute walk to Budva’s main action. The thing is, you can actually sleep here – no drunk British tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM like you’d get closer to the old town.

What really got me was how thoughtfully set up the apartment is. I mean, someone clearly lives in this area and knows what travelers actually need. The kitchen has proper coffee (not those awful instant packets), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the space, and there’s decent water pressure – details that matter when you’re staying somewhere longer than a night. The balcony overlooks this sweet little neighborhood scene where you can watch daily life unfold while having your morning espresso. During late spring and summer, you’ll catch the scent of jasmine drifting up from the gardens below, which sounds cheesy but genuinely makes the whole experience feel special. Parking was surprisingly easy too – there’s space right outside, which anyone who’s driven through Budva’s narrow streets will appreciate. The walk into town takes you down through some lovely residential areas where you’ll pass actual Montenegrins going about their day, local bakeries, and small markets. It’s maybe 800 meters to reach Budva’s famous beaches and old town walls, but the path is pleasant and you’re not fighting crowds until you actually get there. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Budva without feeling like I’m trapped in a tourist bubble – which, let’s face it, most of the coastal accommodations can feel like during peak season.
