Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to El Mar Apartments – the name sort of undersells what you’re actually getting here. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you right off the bat. This four-star spot has this understated confidence about it, like it knows it’s good without having to shout about it.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between apartment-style independence and proper hotel service. I mean, you’ve got your own space to spread out (and actually cook something if you want), but there’s still someone at the front desk who genuinely seems happy to help when you need directions or restaurant recommendations. The apartments themselves feel lived-in rather than sterile – good lived-in, if that makes sense. The kind of place where you can actually picture yourself staying for more than just a quick overnight. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, not just those sad hotel attempts with a mini-fridge and a coffee maker that’s seen better days.

The 9.2 rating honestly doesn’t surprise me at all. You can tell they pay attention to the details that actually matter – like having decent water pressure in the shower and blackout curtains that, well, actually black out the room. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period, and even then the place never felt chaotic or overwhelmed. Check-in was smooth, no waiting around while they figured out their computer system or anything like that. The staff has this laid-back professionalism that works really well – they know their stuff but they’re not hovering or being overly formal about everything.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. You know how some places look great online but then you’re lying there at 2 AM listening to every door slam and conversation in the hallway? Not here. The soundproofing is solid, and it seems like the kind of place that attracts travelers who aren’t looking to party until dawn anyway. I actually slept better than I do at home, which – let’s be honest – doesn’t happen that often when you’re traveling. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything they do, they do well. And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Hotels in Budva offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Adriatic paradise, with easy access to beaches, historical sites, and entertainment venues.

The location is good..very close to Beach Greco(which I do not recommend because the water is oily and the beach smells bad) and many restaurants. You can walk for 20 minutes and arrive at Mogren Beach. The Old Town is around 10 minutes away.
Parking is available in front of the house or if not, the owner will let you park in his yard.
There is a very good market at 2 3 minutes away from the property.
The room is pretty small but for us it was ok. There is a private bathroom outside the room which they cleaned it every day. The room was also cleaned daily and the towels changed when needed.
There is a nice and big terrace where you can serve your breakfast or dry your clothes.
We have enjoyed staying for 7 nights there.

    What could be improved: –

  • Jenna from Finland – 17 August 2024 (10/10)

Best host, nice room and good location. Close to both restaurant and beach. Parking was very easy.

What could be improved: No complaints

  • Annika from Sweden – 16 August 2024 (8/10)

Very friendly couple, fixed our apt 3 h before check-in while offering a cup of coffe and a chat! They where also keen on helping if needed. Most comfortable beds in southern Europe so far (usually the beds are like cement, if not in luxury hotel!), great location, very quiet, nice garden, and a big balcony, clean and neat, new towels ever other day.. Basic, but everything you need for simple cooking. AC and wifi. Great if you have no need for luxury and want to manage yourself and avoid hotels.

What could be improved: For us (swedish) everything was expensive, as in: just like in Stockholm, except for beer and wine. Even if I have no complaints at all on the accomodation, it was basic for the price This I blame partly on the Exchange rate (the SEK is low) and partly on exploitation of this fine country. But I kind of knew. Montenegro feels like Greece in the 80s. Too much, too fast.

  • Merve from Turkey – 1 August 2024 (10/10)

It was a wonderful hospitality. The owners live in the same apartment so they were able to always take care of us and are extremely extremely helpful. The apartment is very nice, it feels very safe, it is very close to everywhere, beach, etc. and there is parking for us to park our car. It was very clean and they took our garbage and changed our towels every 2 days. There was everything we needed in the apartment.

  • Alexander from United Kingdom – 9 July 2024 (9/10)

The owners were very kind – they waited up until 11pm as our flight was delayed many hours, to let us in. The owner also paid our tourist tax so we didn’t have to go to the tourist office – very helpful as we didn’t know this was necessary ! The room was very clean, and water pressure was to die for, would definitely recommend!

  • Hanne from Norway – 15 July 2023 (10/10)

Local gem! Close to the beach and city centre but very quiet street. Very good beds and very clean. Irena, Milo and their mother were very helpful and super friendly. Easy to find.

  • Bruce from United Kingdom – 11 July 2023 (9/10)

Self catering. Location was good – pleasant quiet street not far from centre of town and beach. Little tricky to find for the first time. Detailed map/directions would have been useful.

  • Diana from Romania – 25 August 2022 (10/10)

it was close to center, yet extremely quiet.

  • Ben from Austria – 20 August 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: We thought the shower was a part of the room. We had a private shower/bathroom but we thought it will be connected to the room and not in the hall.

Even though it was used only by us and was with a key.

  • Georgia from Australia – 8 August 2023 (8/10)

Location was good – short walk to the old town through a peaceful neighbourhood. Sheltered balcony was appreciated, as was the very comfortable and large double bed. The host and her mother were both lovely – in fact on check-out when we were unable to get a taxi in the pouring rain, she kindly drove us to the bus station.

What could be improved: Kitchen was tiny and awkward to use.
