Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around the Balkans, and honestly? Garni Hotel MB Premium caught me completely off guard. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and ratings, then cross your fingers? Well, this one actually delivered – and then some.

The thing is, it’s tucked away on Rakita street, which means you’re close enough to hear the buzz from Budva’s old town (maybe a 7-minute walk downhill) but far enough up that you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos of drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM. I mean, Budva in summer can be… a lot. The hotel itself has this sort of understated elegance – not flashy, but everything just feels thoughtful. The lobby smells faintly of lavender, and there’s this gorgeous stone work that feels authentically Montenegrin without being kitschy about it. Check-in was refreshingly smooth too, which honestly surprised me because I’d just come from a place in Kotor where they acted like my reservation was some kind of personal inconvenience.

What really got me was the attention to detail. The rooms – well, mine faced toward the Adriatic, and you could actually see little glimpses of blue between the buildings if you craned your neck just right. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually had proper water pressure (you’d be amazed how rare that is in this part of the world), and the bed was firm in that perfect European way. But here’s the thing that’ll matter to you: parking. They’ve got their own spots, which in Budva during peak season is basically like finding gold. I watched people circle the streets below for literally hours looking for a place to leave their rental cars. The breakfast spread was solid too – proper local cheeses, fresh bread that was still warm, and this amazing honey that I’m pretty sure came from somewhere nearby in the mountains. They had the usual international stuff if you’re not feeling adventurous, but honestly, try the local items.

The staff genuinely seemed to care, which you can’t fake. When I mentioned I was heading to Sveti Stefan the next day, the front desk guy (Marko, I think?) pulled out this hand-drawn map and showed me the back route that avoids the tourist bus traffic. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google. And the 9.7 rating? Yeah, I get it now. This place just works – from the way the AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine to how the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the room. It’s not the cheapest option in Budva, but when you factor in the parking, the location that’s perfectly positioned between convenience and tranquility, and the fact that you’ll actually sleep well… it’s worth it. Especially if you’re doing the whole Montenegro coast thing and want a proper base that doesn’t feel like a hostel or some soulless chain hotel.
