Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Guest House Mrvaljević when I first booked it – the name had me practicing pronunciation in my head for days. But you know what? Sometimes the places that seem hardest to find end up being exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

The first thing that hits you is how genuinely welcoming the Mrvaljević family is. I mean, this isn’t some corporate chain where the staff recites scripted greetings – these folks actually remember your name and ask how your day went when you come back from wandering around. The check-in process was refreshingly simple, though I’d recommend brushing up on a few local phrases if you’re not familiar with the language. They speak English well enough, but there’s something nice about making the effort, and they really appreciate it. The guest house itself has that lived-in charm that three-star places do best when they’re run by people who actually care. The rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but everything works properly (the shower has decent pressure, thank god), and there’s clearly been thought put into the little things. Good blackout curtains, outlets where you actually need them, and – this was a pleasant surprise – the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just adequate.

What really sets this place apart though is the location knowledge you get from staying with locals. The Mrvaljevićs pointed me toward this small café about a ten-minute walk away that I never would have found on my own, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite discoveries of the trip. They also gave me the real scoop on timing – apparently Tuesday mornings are perfect for exploring the nearby market because all the vendors are there but none of the weekend crowds. That 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there a few days and realize how much these small insights add up. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet, especially in the evenings, which was perfect for me but might feel a bit sleepy if you’re looking for nightlife right outside your door. Parking wasn’t an issue the times I needed it, though I’d ask about it when you book if you’re driving. The whole experience just felt… real, I guess? Like staying with distant relatives who happen to run a really well-organized guest house. It’s not fancy, but it’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like saying goodbye to friends rather than just checking out of a hotel.

  The service was excellent. Each day they were cleaning the room and changing towels. Host was very kind and responded to our any request.
  The room was exactly the one that we booked, with kitchenette and necessary staff for cooking (with refrigerator).
  The view from the balcony was majestic, we could see whole city from the top. It was about 10 minutes walk for us to reach to the beach, markets and main street, so it was very comfortable location.

  The accomodation was really nice, had everything we needed, including AC, refrigerator, water kettle etc. Moreover, room also had a nice balcony! The location is great, 15min by foot to the city centre and the first beach. Furthermore, a supermarket and a couple of bakeries are nearby. The hosts were amazing – lovely and helpful, we were well taken care of and they made us feel welcome! 🙂 Thanks again for everything!

  The room was perfect for me and my friend. We had everything we needed for the few days that we stayed there (fridge, kettle, A/C…). The host was nice and easy to contact at any time. The location is nice, not too far from the beaches and the old town, but far enough that it is in a calmer area.

  I've just returned from a wonderful trip to Budva, Montenegro, where I had the privilege of staying in the home of an incredibly hospitable and welcoming family.
  
  From the moment we arrived, we were met with a warm reception that immediately made us feel at home. The homeowner and her son went above and beyond our expectations to ensure we had the best possible experience.
  
  The hosts were always willing to share their local recommendations, ensuring we had the chance to experience Budva the way the locals do. Moreover, they always found time to chat and share stories, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and traditions.
  
  The house was extremely comfortable and well-equipped, making our stay all the more enjoyable. The location is also ideal, as it's close to many local attractions.
  
  In summary, the experience we had staying with this family in Budva was nothing short of spectacular. The kindness and warmth we received will make this a trip we will never forget. I highly recommend anyone considering a stay here if they are planning a trip to Budva.
