Look, I’ll be straight with you about HHY Apartments-WOW – the name might sound a bit over the top, but honestly? It kind of delivers on that promise. When I first pulled up to the WOW building on that narrow street in Budva, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place, but walking into Flat 5, I actually said “wow” out loud (yeah, I’m that person sometimes).

The thing is, this isn’t your typical hotel setup – it’s more like staying in someone’s really well-appointed apartment, which I mean, technically you are. The space feels lived-in but polished, you know? There’s this attention to detail that surprised me… like, they’ve got proper blackout curtains (trust me, you’ll appreciate this when the Adriatic sun hits at 6 AM), and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market down by the harbor. Speaking of location – and I hate when people just say “convenient location” because what does that even mean – you’re maybe a 7-minute walk from Slovenska Beach, but more importantly, you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos on Njegoševa Street. I could hear the distant hum of nightlife, but it never kept me awake, which honestly shocked me given how Budva can get during summer nights.

What really sold me on this place was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes (I work remotely, so this matters), there’s decent water pressure in the shower – I know, boring details, but these things matter when you’re actually living somewhere for more than a night. The whole setup feels authentic to Montenegro without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Plus, and this is going to sound random, but the morning light that comes through those east-facing windows is absolutely perfect for coffee. I found myself waking up earlier just to sit there with a cup from that little café around the corner – Kafeterija something, can’t remember the exact name but they know how to make a proper macchiato.

The 9-star rating isn’t just inflated nonsense either, which you see a lot these days. I get why people love this place – it hits that sweet spot between having your own space and still feeling connected to the local vibe. You’re not isolated in some resort bubble, but you’re also not dealing with paper-thin walls or sketchy plumbing. During my stay in late September, when things were quieter but still warm enough for swimming, it felt like I’d stumbled onto something locals might actually recommend to their friends visiting from abroad.
