Look, I'll be honest – when I first heard about Hotel California by Aycon, I thought someone was making an Eagles reference and didn't take it seriously.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Hotel California by Aycon, I thought someone was making an Eagles reference and didn’t take it seriously. But after staying there twice now, I get why they kept the name. This place actually lives up to that “you can check out any time you like, but you never want to leave” vibe, minus the creepy undertones.
What really struck me walking into the lobby was how they managed to nail that luxury feel without being pretentious about it. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests – not that forced hospitality smile you get at some five-star places. Check-in was smooth, maybe ten minutes tops, and they actually remembered my name throughout the stay (which, you know, seems basic but you’d be surprised how many expensive hotels mess this up). The rooms are spacious in a way that makes you wonder why other hotels think cramming furniture everywhere equals luxury. I mean, the bathroom alone was bigger than some entire hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Everything felt solid too – none of that flimsy furniture that wobbles when you set your coffee down.
Here’s what I really appreciated though: the little things that show they understand travelers. The outlets are actually placed where you need them, not hidden behind the bed. The blackout curtains work – like, really work. And the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train, which honestly made all the difference for my sleep. The restaurant downstairs serves food that’s actually good, not just hotel good. I had their breakfast twice and dinner once, and while it’s not cheap, it’s not outrageously priced either considering the quality. The pool area gets busy around mid-afternoon, but early morning or evening it’s perfect for unwinding. One thing to note – parking fills up quick during peak times, so get there early or be prepared to street park, which isn’t terrible but not ideal when you’re hauling luggage.
The location works well if you don’t mind being a bit removed from the main tourist chaos – sometimes that’s exactly what you want. It’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows cracked if you prefer fresh air over AC. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where locals actually go about their business, which I find more interesting than staying in those sterile hotel districts. That 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s genuinely excellent without being perfect, and the imperfections are minor enough that they don’t really matter. Would I stay here again? Already planning to, actually. It’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals so right that you stop noticing you’re in a hotel and just feel… comfortable.
Exploring Budva offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Montenegro’s coastal jewel, from its ancient citadel to its pristine beaches and lively summer atmosphere.

What Our Guests Say
Excellent location on the beach, breakfast on the terrace a highlight. Staff were welcoming and charming. Beach was great and the views over to Sveti Stefan island exceptional
What could be improved: My only niggle would be that it would be good to have a second coffee/hot drinks machine at breakfast
The view from the room was simply amazing! I would stay on the balcony for hours. I totally recommend paying a bit more and choosing a sea view room because that is the best part. Of course, you have amazing view from the breakfast area as well and from the beach which is private. Also free parking was a plus. They also helped my husband prepare a birthday surprise for me which was so nice!
What could be improved: I have nothing to complain about!
Lovely hotel with amazing views! Great breakfast and free beach chairs on private beach. Reccomended
What could be improved: Nothing.
Beautiful location with a private beach and enough sun loungers to always have a spot. Lovely view and quiet, relaxed atmosphere.
Hotel rooms were spacious and clean. The location was perfect right on the beach.
What could be improved: Staff on the reception did not relate information. Asked about a local restaurant there are only 16 in the area they did not know where it was, also there are more than 150 steps to get to restaurants no heads up from staff so yiu are prepared wrong shoes etc. Cabs back from Budva add extortionate tariffs in the evening when we asked the receptionist she said yes thats correct but she never mentioned it to us when we booked our taxi to go there. Not helpful not imparting key facts.
Unbeatable location with stunning views , and it’s own private part of the beach with plentiful free sun beds & umbrella’s .
Hotel is spotlessly clean and the decor very contemporary.
Staff were very helpful, and recommended excellent restaurants.
Complimentary breakfast was superb .
All in all absolutely faultless.
What could be improved: Nothing
Amazing views, great breakfast, friendly staff - perfect spot for enjoying Sveti Stefan
The private beach for the hotel is the perfect way to enjoy a relaxing day on the beach and the sunset views from the terrace are unbeatable
What could be improved: n/a
Excellent
What could be improved: Finding a parking spot close to the Hotel was hard, and it was unclear where the entrance was. We pulled in to the side of the road, and one of us went down to find out where we should park. Due to the proximity to the beach, the parking was filled with day travellers and taxis, which added to the confusion. Once we found the front desk, they sent a Valet up to help us with our bags and park the car. From there on it was seamless.
The location is excellent, food delicious and there is an older gentleman that is in charge of the restaurant that does an outstanding job.
