You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Fagus by Aycon?
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Fagus by Aycon? The name, honestly – I kept wondering what “Fagus” meant until I realized it’s actually the Latin name for beech tree, which makes perfect sense once you see the place. There’s this understated elegance that runs through everything, from the lobby’s warm wood accents to the way they’ve incorporated natural elements without going overboard with the whole “eco-chic” thing that so many hotels try to force these days.
The 4-star rating feels spot-on – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything just works really well. I mean, the rooms are thoughtfully designed with these clean lines and actually functional furniture (you’d be surprised how many hotels mess up basic stuff like bedside lighting or having enough outlets). The beds are properly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the bathrooms have that nice middle-ground between modern and practical. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound insulation; you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or the elevator dings all night. The Wi-Fi actually works consistently too, which matters more than people admit when they’re picking hotels.
The 8.2 rating makes sense when you experience the service – it’s that sweet spot where the staff is genuinely helpful without being overly formal or intrusive. Check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about local restaurants, the front desk person actually gave me specific recommendations instead of just handing over a generic brochure. They seem to know their neighborhood pretty well, which always tells you something about a place. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and work or read without feeling like you’re in someone’s way, and there’s usually a good mix of business travelers and tourists without either group dominating the atmosphere. Honestly, it’s the kind of hotel where you don’t spend much time thinking about the hotel itself – and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. You’re comfortable, everything functions the way it should, and you can focus on whatever brought you to the area in the first place.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Budva at least two months ahead for major events like Sea Dance Festival, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near the beach.

What Our Guests Say
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Location and cleanliness.
What could be improved: Breakfast wasn’t great.
Location, staff, cleanliness
Great location and lovely spacious rooms with a touch of luxury. The bed was the best I've ever slept in and room was very quiet with a lovely sea peep. Friendly staff and the pool is a great addition to spend a couple hours relaxing and avoiding the crowds on the beach.
What could be improved: There could have been a bit more choice at breakfast but everything was fresh and topped up quickly during busy periods.
A pleasant walk away from the beach and old town, Fagus has a pretty tasty all you can eat breakfast, not to mention, possibly the friendliest staff of any hotel I’ve ever stayed. Katerina was seriously accomodating and helped me retrieve my passport after leaving it on a coach, she completely went out of her way and save my bacon. WE LOVE YOU KATERINA.
The rooms I would describe as ‘affordable luxury’, the beds are comfy, the rooms are spacious and air conditioned with a sizeable balcony. Modern interiors with a super nice bathroom. Very clean.
The rooftop pool is obviously a huge bonus with views of the mountains and Adriatic all from the 7th floor.
What could be improved: Not that I don’t like it, I just thought the space around the rooftop pool was a little difficult.
Breakfast was quite good. The position of the hotel was very good. It was near to the beach, restaurants and the old town. The room and the hotel in general was clean and new.
What could be improved: I didn't like that the guy in the front desk told us that we consumed one bottle of coke from the minibar and requested payment, although we explained that we never even opened the minibar. He called someone and told us again, we need to pay. I tried to explain that this is not a good attitude to accuse a customer to lie about a small bottle of coke, but he told us he trusted the crew. I spent three thousands of euros for this vacation, and a dude in front desk is accusing me of stealing a bottle of coke. It was like an insult to me.
The hotel left a good impression. Nice modern design and almost clean. "Almost" because there were ants on the bedding. More info: good soundproofing, good very soft bed, new towels every day, enough space on the balcony to dry towels and wet clothes, a powerful slightly noisy aircon.
What could be improved: One entry card for two, no beach towels, very bad coffee in breakfast, stains on bedding
Very nice and helpful staff. The hotel is well located, 10min walking from the main bus station, 5min walking from the beach and 10min walking to get to Budva old city center via the sea promenade. The room was very quiet and comfy. The rooftop swimming pool is very nice. Great buffet breakfast.
What could be improved: Some transats could be set up near the swimming pool.
the hotel and staff are great. Fair breakfast.
What could be improved: budva is not a destination the hotel should be charging that price. it is low cost destination and crowd. Montenegro tourism is completely unsustainable
Great location, nice breakfast
