Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked into Hotel Idila Budva, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how it is with four-star places, they can go either way. But this one actually surprised me in the best possible way. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance that feels more like a boutique property than your typical Montenegrin coastal hotel. What really got my attention though was how quiet everything was, despite being right in Budva (which, if you’ve been there in summer, you’ll know can get pretty chaotic with all the beach crowds and nightlife).

The staff here – and I mean this genuinely – seem to actually care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth, no rushing, and they gave me these little insider tips about avoiding the tourist traps down by the old town. My room had this surprisingly comfortable bed with crisp white linens that actually stayed cool during those muggy July nights. The bathroom was modern without being sterile, and here’s something you don’t always get – really good water pressure in the shower. I know it sounds minor, but after a day walking around Budva’s stone streets or lounging on Mogren Beach, that hot shower hits different. The view from my window wasn’t spectacular or anything, but it was pleasant enough – you could catch glimpses of the Adriatic between the neighboring buildings, and there’s something nice about hearing the distant sound of waves mixed with the evening chatter from the cafés below.

What I really appreciated was the attention to details that most places skip over. The air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial in Montenegro’s summer heat), there were actual blackout curtains for sleeping in, and they had this little welcome setup with local honey and rakija that felt authentic rather than touristy. The breakfast spread was solid – fresh pastries, local cheeses, and surprisingly good coffee. I spent a few mornings just sitting on their terrace with my coffee, watching the town wake up before the day-trippers arrived. The location is pretty ideal too – you’re close enough to walk to everything that matters in Budva, but far enough from the main party strips that you can actually sleep at night. Parking can be tricky in this area, but they sorted that out for me without any fuss. Look, a 9.6 rating sounds almost too good to be true, but after staying here, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the coast, but everything just works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re traveling.

The penthouse apartment is spacious, comfortable and has great views from the four terraces. Staff, from the front desk to the two lovely people at breakfast were incredibly helpful, kind, and generous. The breakfast was delicious. Plenty of food and the menu changed every day so we were constantly surprised by the different dishes, all so wonderful. The cappuccino was made with love and was great. We were very pleased with the housekeeper. The location is more in the residential area but only a short walk to the beach. From the beach it's a short walk to Old Town Budva. We had free parking at the hotel which was a huge plus. Great wifi. In all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

  • Nitin from Cyprus – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

The breakfast buffet was very decent, however on our first day we felt more special as they had everything laid out for us on the table before we arrived possibly because we were one of the only guests at the hotel at the time. The room was clean, spacious, and modern, and bathroom was of a high standard too. They also had parking available downstairs included. The staff were warm, exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

What could be improved: A bit of construction work near the hotel, you could hear it in the morning, also if you're driving the boom gate requires a staff member to open it, so if its raining you have to get out and go inside for them to open it

The staff were amazing, especially the hotel manager who made our stay. She was so accommodating when we arrived to the hotel earlier than expected after a whole night of travelling, she checked us in early and kindly upgraded us, which made our stay! The staff were very friendly and the hotel is in a great location. The rooms are lovely too

  • Vesta from Lithuania – 30 August 2024 (10/10)

We loved everything, especially the staff and the breakfast. We stayed for three nights and breakfast choice was different each day. The staff greets everyone with smiles and helpful mood. The location of the hotel is also good, only 7min walk to the beach and 3min walk to the closest supermarket, the location is also quiet . Would love to stay again some day!
