Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Obala? It’s got this unassuming charm that sneaks up on you. I mean, it’s sitting right there on Becicka plaza, just a stone’s throw from where all the beach action happens, but somehow it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Budva – nothing fancy, but solid and welcoming in that Mediterranean way. When I walked in, the lobby had that lived-in feeling that actually puts you at ease rather than making you worry about tracking sand on expensive marble.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. The guy at reception – I think his name was Marko – didn’t just give me the usual tourist spiel. He actually told me which beach spots get crazy crowded by 10 AM (spoiler: most of them) and suggested this little café around the corner where locals grab their morning coffee. Honestly, that kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience a place beyond the postcard version. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds that don’t leave you with a sore back, and AC that actually works during those sweltering July afternoons. Sure, the decor isn’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshingly honest about a place that focuses on getting the basics right rather than Instagram-worthy aesthetics.
The location is where this place really shines, though. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the beach – I timed it because I’m that person – and you can easily wander into Budva’s old town when the beach scene gets too intense. There’s this great little path that locals use to avoid the main tourist drag, and you’ll stumble across it just by exploring the neighborhood around the hotel. Parking can be a bit of a adventure during peak season (welcome to coastal Montenegro), but the hotel staff helped sort that out without making it feel like a huge ordeal. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re close to everything. The plaza doesn’t turn into a party zone, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and hear the waves instead of drunk tourists stumbling home. That 8.1 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it delivers on what matters most when you’re exploring this gorgeous stretch of coastline.

It's really close to the beach, staff is very friendly and helpful. The view is partial Seaview since this is a second row building, so you still are looking at the roof of the building in front of you. Towels changed daily. Parking is behind but very close to the property. Everything is close and walking distance. When you have a tight budget this accommodation is great.
What could be improved: In our 5 days there, not once sheets were changed. TV had 5 channels.
Wi-Fi was one bar, almost not connecting. Breakfast was good but not a buffet. By day 3 they stopped asking what we like and just bring us fried eggs.Very good trip – Sproat from Canada – June 22, 2024 (10/10)
Everything except wifi
What could be improved: Conections wifiAbsolutely wonderful!! – Ben from United Kingdom – May 8, 2024 (10/10)
The location of the hotel is perfect, right on the sea front & a few yards from the restaurants that line the bay. Considering the central location, the hotel was quiet & peaceful. Our hotel balcony overlooked the beach, the view was stunning. We left the doors open at night so we could hear the ripples of the sea coming in to shore. Our stay was perfect & we can’t wait to go back! Breakfast was lovely, staff were so friendly & helpful. 10/10!
What could be improved: Only thing I would say is the room would have been better with blackout curtains, as soon as the sun began to rise the room was very bright & woke us early.Exceptional – Adnan from United States – July 30, 2023 (10/10)
Reception desk was exceptionally professional and friendly.
Courteous, knowledgeable and eloquent.Magnificient and Relax – Ahmet from Turkey – May 9, 2023 (10/10)

What could be improved: The coffee at breakfast.Just for young and drunk people – Daria from Spain – August 1, 2023 (6/10)
Location
What could be improved: Bad organization. Breakfast is not worthy, and the beach is a disaster of private properties. Is not hotel guilty but the beach is not to stay with family, it’s a mess.Very Poor – Vladimir from United States – July 18, 2023 (2/10)
Close to the beack.
What could be improved: When we arrive the bed was not ready and dirt and sand all over it. The kid bed was a not comfortable otoman that converts into bed. The showerhead has no plece to hook very uncomfortable way to shower and wash head. The wifi was weak and spotty. Manager never available asked 3 times. The food is mediocre at best. Very disappointed.. parking was accessible only with a person from the administration. Will non recommend. Try one of neighboring spots
