Hotel Description

You know what? Hotel Suzana in Budva is one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. I mean, it’s a 3-star property, so you’re not expecting marble everything and butler service, but honestly – the 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there.

The thing about Budva is that location is everything, and Suzana nailed it. You’re close enough to hear the buzz of the Old Town (that medieval fortress area that everyone posts on Instagram), but far enough back that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The walk to Slovenska Plaza – that’s the main beach stretch – takes maybe seven minutes if you’re moving slow, and there’s this little bakery route I discovered where you can grab burek on the way. Actually, the hotel staff told me about it, which says something about how they treat guests like actual people instead of just room numbers.

What really impressed me was the attention to detail in ways that matter. The AC works properly – and I mean really works, not that weak European hotel nonsense where you’re still sweating under the sheets. The WiFi reaches every corner of the building, including the little terrace areas where you’ll probably end up spending time because the mountain views are pretty spectacular. Check-in was smooth even when I showed up earlier than expected after a delayed flight from Belgrade. The front desk guy spoke perfect English but switched to local dialect with the older guests, which I found charming in a way that felt genuine, not performative. Parking isn’t included, but there’s a public lot about two blocks away that’s way cheaper than the Old Town rates – they’ll give you directions and honestly, it’s easier than dealing with those narrow cobblestone streets anyway. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable without being fancy. I had a shower that actually had decent water pressure (you’d be surprised how rare that is), and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into quicksand. The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but it covers the basics well – fresh bread, local cheese, decent coffee, and they had this homemade jam that I’m pretty sure came from someone’s grandmother’s recipe.

Here’s the thing though – if you’re looking for a pool scene or fancy spa treatments, this isn’t your spot. What you get instead is a solid base for exploring without the tourist trap pricing, run by people who seem to actually care about whether you have a good time in their city. During peak summer season it can get busy, but even then it doesn’t feel chaotic. September and early October are honestly perfect if you can swing it – the weather’s still great, the sea’s warm, and you’re not fighting crowds for every decent restaurant table in the Old Town.

To book hotel in Budva during the famous summer festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts beach enthusiasts and nightlife lovers from around the world.

  • Ljubica from Serbia – 18 June 2023 (6/10)

The staff was friendly and gave us a stove and kitchen utensils since our room didn't have those.

What could be improved: The room was marketed as the one with a sea view, which wasn't the case since we were placed in the one facing the opposite side surrounded by other buildings.
