You know what struck me first about Klaris Guest house? It’s tucked away on Topliški put, which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak the language, but it’s actually this quiet residential street that feels worlds away from the chaos down in Budva’s Old Town. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from all that tourist madness, but up here it’s just… peaceful. The kind of place where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of construction noise and scooter engines revving.

The guesthouse itself has that unpretentious charm that you don’t always get with four-star places – it’s clearly run by people who actually care about the details. When I walked in, there was this subtle scent of lavender (not the overwhelming synthetic stuff, thankfully) and the floors had that satisfying cool tile feeling under your feet. The woman at reception – I think she might be the owner – knew exactly which restaurants to avoid in the Old Town and pointed me toward this little konoba up the hill that I never would’ve found otherwise. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t Google, you know?

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. Budva can be absolutely bonkers during summer – I’m talking music pumping until 3 AM down by the marina – but Topliški put stays residential and calm. You’ll still hear the occasional car, but nothing like the all-night party soundtrack you get closer to the beach. The rooms face different directions, so if you’re sensitive to morning light, mention it when you book. I actually loved waking up early to the sound of coffee brewing somewhere in the building and that particular Mediterranean morning light filtering through the shutters.

There’s decent parking right there, which is honestly a miracle in Montenegro during peak season – I’ve seen people abandon their cars in random olive groves because they couldn’t find a spot anywhere near their accommodation. The walk down to Slovenska Beach takes maybe twelve minutes if you don’t mind a bit of a slope (coming back up is where you’ll feel it, especially after a day in the sun). And here’s something the booking sites won’t tell you – there’s a little grocery store about three minutes away where the locals shop, so you can grab actual good coffee and maybe some of that excellent Montenegrin cheese without paying resort prices.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy amenities or Instagram-worthy infinity pools. But if you want to experience Budva without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble, and you appreciate places where someone’s clearly put thought into making guests comfortable rather than just extracting maximum profit, Klaris really delivers. That 9.3 rating isn’t just people being generous – it reflects what happens when you combine a great location with genuinely thoughtful hospitality.

  The room was clean and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and offered free coffee every morning. The swimming pool area was very relaxed.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is on a hill, from the beach it is 15 minutes up hill which was a bit exhausting in the hot weather. Besides that, everything was perfect.

  This was the best place I have ever been. The balcony, the terrace, amazing swimming pool. I am very greatfull for the hosts of the apartment for their amazing hospitality. Enjoyed every minute of the stay at Klaris apartment. Will come here next time when I visit Budva, Montenegro.

  We arrived very stressed after arriving in Budva to find our booking at another property did not exist. I spoke to the hosts son at the Klaris
  who was so accommodating and arranged for us to stay in the 2 bedroomed apartment. The kindness we were shown by all the family was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, and we all felt looked after which made our stay all the more enjoyable .
  The pool was a hidden gem with sunloungers/chairs and a small bar.We were encouraged to use the pizza grill/outside cooking area if we wanted,but we ate out most nights.
  The rooms were cleaned everyday and towels replenished.
  Air conditioning was excellent and in both bedrooms.
  Our host kindly arranged transport to the airport .

Really appreciate that we could see how well the property was minded. The pool was extremely well minded and cleaned regularly over the course of our stay.
