Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Lolo Luxury rooms & suites on XVI Ulica, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. The street itself is pretty quiet, tucked away from the main tourist chaos that hits Budva’s Old Town during summer, but that actually turned out to be one of its best features. You’re literally a 5-minute walk from all the waterfront restaurants and that beautiful medieval wall everyone posts on Instagram, but at night? Dead quiet. No drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM.
The rooms are honestly way nicer than the star rating suggests – I mean, whoever’s running this place clearly cares about the details. The suites especially surprised me; they’ve got this modern Mediterranean thing going on without feeling sterile or hotel-chain generic. What really got me was the little touches, you know? Good water pressure (trust me, this matters in Montenegro), blackout curtains that actually work, and air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which saved my life when I had to jump on a work call. Parking can be a bit tricky on XVI Ulica itself – it’s a narrow street – but there’s usually spots within a block or two, and honestly, you won’t need your car much once you’re settled in.
The staff here gets it, which makes all the difference. They’re not just going through the motions – when I asked about hitting up some of the beaches further south toward Bar, the guy at reception actually drew me a little map and told me which bus to catch. That kind of local insight you just can’t get from chain hotels. The location really is perfect if you want to experience Budva without being right in the thick of the summer madness. During the day you can walk down to Slovenska Beach in about 8 minutes, grab coffee at one of those tiny cafés near the citadel, then retreat back to your quiet corner when the crowds get overwhelming. I stayed in late June and while the coastal promenade was absolutely packed with families and tour groups, XVI Ulica felt like a different world entirely. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places that just works, you know? Nothing flashy or over-the-top, but everything you actually need is done really well.

Exceptional Beautiful room in a nice location not far from the city center. The owners don't speak English but that was not a problem. Recommended.
Exceptional Beautiful place and not expensive
Exceptional It was great, host was great!
Very Good It was important to me for the apartment to be located near the bus station,, so the location suited me well. The apartment is new, clean, all the necessities for a 1-night stay were there. There was no construction or car noise.
What could be improved: Staff didn't speak any language but Turkish, didn't use Google translate until I insisted, wasn't aware of the local taxation matters or disregarded it, asked for a higher price than indicated in Booking.com. The check-in related issues were solved because there was a woman speaking Russian to a man speaking Turkish to the staff... Not the best experience after a long travel.
The closet has a manually installed light that was difficult to turn off -- which was an issue because the closet had a see through glass door and the light was disturbing me at night until I figured it out. It also looked unsafe to me -- from health and safety perspective.
I wholeheartedly recommend that there be at least one person speaking Montenegrin or English to make the check-in process smooth... Or automate it to avoid human interaction issues due to a language barrier.
Very Good Location is good. About 25 min walk from the old city.
What could be improved: WiFi didn't work in the room
