I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to this place on Spaska Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building in Budva. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight. This two-bedroom spot completely changed my perspective on where to stay in Montenegro’s busiest coastal town.

The thing about Spaska 1 is that it sits in this perfect sweet spot where you’re actually living like a local, but you can still roll out of bed and be at the beach in about eight minutes on foot. I mean, sure, you’re not right on that main waterfront strip where all the tour groups cluster, but honestly? That’s exactly why this works so well. You get the real Budva experience – morning coffee runs to the little bakery around the corner, elderly neighbors chatting on their balconies, the actual rhythm of how people live here. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not some sterile hotel setup. The kitchen’s properly equipped (I’m talking real knives and decent pots, not those flimsy things you usually get), and there’s enough space in those two bedrooms that you’re not tripping over each other’s luggage. The Wi-Fi actually works – tested it on multiple video calls – and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which, let me tell you, matters when you’re trying to sleep through those warm Adriatic nights.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it connects you to the town’s actual personality. Walk five minutes toward the old town and you’re suddenly in those narrow stone streets where every corner has a story, but head the other direction and you hit the newer part where locals do their shopping and kids play football in small parks. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days here – it’s not flashy or trying to impress anyone, but everything just works the way it should. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak summer months (July and August get pretty crazy), but the owner knows the neighborhood tricks and will point you toward spots that aren’t obvious to tourists. The noise level’s just right too – quiet enough to sleep well, but you still get those lovely Mediterranean sounds of life happening around you. I actually found myself looking forward to the evening ritual of local families gathering in the small square nearby. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned, not because there’s some resort amenities keeping you busy, but because you’ve accidentally found a little corner of Montenegro that feels like home.

  The host was very nice, we got stuck in traffic and he was very accommodating with the arrival time. The apartment is very spacious and the two balcony’s are great for an evening in. The old town is only a couple minutes away, as is the beach. We had a great, relaxing stay!

  Perfect little stay for a holiday. Very comfortable, close to the beach and old town (I walked back and forth a few times a day for a siesta or to get changed), plenty of space, beautiful view from the balcony, and very lovely hosts who helped me check in and out with ease!
