Okay, so I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Luča Apartments, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem absolutely nailed it.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Budva at all. You’re tucked away from the main tourist madness on Slovenska Obala (trust me, you don’t want to be right on that strip during July – it’s chaos), but you can still walk to the Old Town in maybe 10 minutes. The thing is, you get this perfect balance where you’re close enough to stumble back from dinner at Arsenal or Jadran Kod Krsta, but far enough that you’re not hearing drunk tourists singing at 3 AM. I mean, the apartment building itself looks pretty standard from the outside – sort of that typical Balkan residential style – but once you’re inside, it’s clear someone actually cares about this place. The units are way cleaner and more thoughtfully set up than most apartment rentals I’ve stayed in around Montenegro.

What really got me was the attention to small details that honestly make or break a stay. The Wi-Fi actually works (shocking for the Balkans sometimes), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a dying helicopter, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the shower pressure is fantastic. After spending a day hiking around Kotor Bay or getting sand-blasted on Mogren Beach, that matters more than you’d think. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which is clutch because eating out every meal in Budva during peak season will drain your wallet fast. There’s a decent Idea supermarket about a 5-minute walk away where you can grab groceries without paying tourist prices. Parking can be a bit tricky during summer – it’s not like Western Europe where everything’s organized – but the hosts seem to know the neighborhood well and can point you toward spots that won’t get you towed. The 9.3 rating honestly makes sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not luxury by any means, but it delivers exactly what it promises without the usual Airbnb surprises (you know, like finding out the “fully equipped kitchen” is just a hot plate and a mini fridge). The whole experience just feels… reliable? Like someone’s grandmother is making sure everything runs smoothly. If you’re planning to use Budva as a base for exploring the coast – hitting up Sveti Stefan, doing the Kotor thing, maybe catching a ferry to Dubrovnik – this is honestly one of the better value plays I’ve found in the area.
