Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Luxury Hotel Dubrava in Budva, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit grand for Montenegro, you know? But after spending a few nights there, I actually get why they went with it. This place has that solid four-star feel without trying too hard to be something it’s not.

The location is what really sold me on it. You’re close enough to Budva’s old town that you can walk there in about ten minutes (and trust me, you’ll want to – those cobblestone streets at sunset are something else), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the party crowds stumbling back at 3 AM. I mean, Budva can get pretty wild during summer, especially around the marina area, so having that buffer zone is actually perfect. The staff seemed to really know their stuff too – they pointed me toward this little bakery nearby that locals go to, not the touristy spots everyone else recommends.

What struck me most was how the hotel manages to feel both comfortable and polished without being stuffy. The rooms are well put together – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly isn’t always a given in this part of the Balkans (learned that the hard way on previous trips). The air conditioning actually keeps up with those brutal August afternoons, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to upload photos or get some work done. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me because it’s exactly what you’d hope for from a good four-star – reliable, pleasant, with just enough character to feel distinctly Montenegrin rather than like some generic chain hotel.

I really appreciated that the breakfast had local touches alongside the usual international spread. They do this cheese from the region that I’d never tried before, and the coffee was actually strong enough to wake you up – you’d be surprised how many hotels mess that up. The whole vibe reminded me of those family-run places that have figured out how to scale up without losing their personality. During the quieter evening hours, you could sit in the lobby area and actually hear yourself think, which was a nice change from some of the busier spots closer to the beach. If you’re planning to visit during peak season, I’d definitely book early – places like this that hit the sweet spot between quality and authenticity tend to fill up fast, and honestly, at this price point for what you’re getting, it’s kind of a no-brainer.
