Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Luxury place with a magnificent view,” I rolled my eyes a bit. I mean, come on, right? But then I actually stayed there on Maksima Gorkog street in Budva, and honestly, sometimes places live up to their bold claims.
The thing about this spot is that it sits in this sweet location where you’re close enough to hear the buzz from Budva’s Old Town (especially during summer nights when the cafes stay open late), but you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tourists dragging suitcases over cobblestones at all hours. The street itself is pretty quiet – mostly locals heading to work or the small grocery store around the corner. What really got me though was stepping onto the balcony that first morning. You know how sometimes hotel photos oversell the view? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. The Adriatic just stretches out in front of you, and if you’re there during sunset – which, trust me, you should plan for – the whole sky turns this incredible orange-pink that reflects off the water.
The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but everything works and it’s actually pretty comfortable. The AC keeps up even during those brutal July afternoons, and the shower has decent water pressure, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier places I’ve stayed along the coast. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience too – the woman at reception (I think her name was Marija?) gave me this detailed rundown of which beaches to hit and which bus routes actually run on time. She even warned me that the local market gets picked over pretty early, so if I wanted the good stuff, I should go before 9 AM. That kind of local intel is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience a place like a person, not just another tourist.
I stayed there in late September, which is honestly the perfect time – the summer crowds have thinned out, but the weather’s still warm enough for swimming and the restaurants haven’t started closing for the season yet. The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s technically a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight class. You’re getting that view, that location (seriously, 10 minutes to the beach, 15 to the Old Town on foot), and people who actually seem happy to help you figure out Montenegro. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re a super light sleeper, you might hear some street noise in the early morning – there’s a bakery nearby and the delivery trucks start around 6 AM. But honestly? I found it kind of charming, like being part of the neighborhood rhythm rather than sealed off in some sterile resort bubble.
Hotel in Budva booking should be done early, especially during summer season when the city hosts internationally popular music festivals and beach parties.
