Honestly, when I first walked up to Maxim Family Apartment on Mediteranska Street, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star place in Budva, right? But you know what really surprised me? The whole vibe just felt… right. The building sits on this quiet residential street that’s maybe a 7-minute walk from all the Old Town craziness, which turned out to be perfect because you get the best of both worlds. You can stumble back from the bars and restaurants without dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your door, but you’re still close enough that you’re not taking expensive taxi rides everywhere.

The apartment itself – and I say apartment because it really feels like staying in someone’s well-kept home rather than a sterile hotel room – has this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake. The kitchen actually works (I made coffee every morning and even cooked a simple dinner one night), and there’s enough space that you’re not tripping over your luggage constantly. What really got me was the attention to small stuff: good water pressure in the shower, decent WiFi that didn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the beds were actually comfortable, not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes get stuck with. The owner, I think his name was Marko, was around during check-in and gave me this casual rundown of the neighborhood that was way more useful than any guidebook. He mentioned this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM, and honestly, their burek became my daily breakfast routine.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day or two to really appreciate – Mediteranska puts you in actual Budva, not tourist Budva. There’s a small grocery store literally two blocks away where locals shop (way cheaper than the Old Town places), and if you walk towards the water, you hit the beach areas that aren’t completely overrun. During the day it gets pretty quiet around there, which was perfect for afternoon naps, but I will say the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights – not obnoxiously loud, just… alive, you know? Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Montenegrin coastal towns will tell you is basically a miracle. The whole experience felt authentic in a way that bigger hotels just can’t match, and with that 9 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who noticed. If you’re the type who wants to experience Budva like you’re actually staying there instead of just passing through, this place gets it right.

  Great sized apartment in a fantastic close to beach front location. The beach was about a 2-3 minute walk away and there are lots of restaurants as well as a shopping plaza within a 1 minute walk. The bedrooms and living space are great sized and very comfortable. Good AC throughout the apartment.

  Some aspects of the apartment needed a bit of work, e.g. the bathroom door handles and some of the skirting need replacing.

  Хорошее расположение, без проблем с детьми 15, 8 и 2 лет ходили пешком на пляж и в старый город. Прямо в соседнем доме отличный ресторан, в котором каждый день обедали. Есть кухня, на ней холодильник, чайник, плита и даже посудомойка, готовили завтраки сами. Есть стиральная машина. Кондиционеры во всех комнатах.
  
  What could be improved: Нет лифта, но коляску можно оставлять внизу. Пару раз в день подняться и спуститься с пятого этажа не самая большая проблема. Почему то нет обеденного стола, ели за маленьким столиком, принесенным с балкона.

  Огромная квартира с отличным ремонтом, удобствами и тд, кондиционеры в каждой комнате, отличный напор воды, балкон, все новое и современное, удобнейшее расположение и очень хорошие хозяйва!
