You know what struck me first about this place? It’s not actually in the thick of Petrovac’s tourist madness, but you’re still close enough to walk down to that gorgeous crescent beach in maybe eight minutes. The Mediterranean vacation home sits up on one of those quiet residential streets where you’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of drunk tourists – which, honestly, is exactly what you want after a day exploring Montenegro’s coast.

The pool is the real star here, and I mean that. It’s not some tiny decorative thing you see in vacation rental photos that turns out to be basically a large bathtub. This is a proper swimming pool where you can actually do laps if that’s your thing, surrounded by this lovely stone terrace that gets the most incredible afternoon sun. I spent way too many hours there with a book and local wine, watching the light change on the mountains behind Petrovac. The whole setup feels very… I don’t know, authentic Mediterranean? Like someone’s well-loved family retreat rather than a sterile rental property. There are olive trees around the edges and this old stone wall that probably has stories.

What I really appreciated – and this might sound boring but trust me on this – is how quiet it gets at night. Petrovac itself can be pretty lively during summer, especially down near the waterfront where all the restaurants and bars are, but up here you get this perfect balance. You’re close enough to walk down for dinner at Castello or that little fish place by the harbor (locals call it Kod Marka, though I’m not sure that’s the official name), but far enough that you’re not dealing with people walking past your window at 2 AM. The cicadas are probably the loudest thing you’ll hear after dark, which is exactly how a Mediterranean evening should sound. Parking was never an issue either – there’s space right by the house, which anyone who’s driven around Balkan coastal towns in summer will tell you is basically a miracle.
