I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Budva’s old town, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The building itself has this understated charm that a lot of the flashier hotels along the coast seem to miss entirely.

Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The floors have that polished stone that stays cool even during those brutal July afternoons, and the staff – well, they actually remember your name after the first day, which is rarer than you’d think in Montenegro’s hotel scene. I’ve stayed in plenty of three-star places that feel like they’re just going through the motions, but Mina has this energy that’s hard to fake. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple – clean lines, decent beds (actually comfortable, not just pretty), and windows that open properly so you can catch those evening breezes rolling in from the Adriatic. The bathrooms are newer than the building itself, which anyone who’s traveled the Balkans will appreciate.

But here’s the thing that really sets it apart – the location is almost ridiculously perfect without being obvious about it. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to Budva’s old town walls, but you can also slip down to the beach without fighting through the main tourist crowds. There’s this little bakery around the corner where locals actually go for their morning coffee, and if you head toward the marina early enough, you’ll catch the fishing boats coming in with the day’s catch. The square itself gets lively in the evenings – not rowdy, just that perfect Mediterranean buzz of people enjoying themselves. Sometimes there’s live music drifting up from the restaurants below, but it’s never so loud that you can’t sleep with the windows open. Parking can be tricky during peak season (I mean, it’s Budva), but the hotel staff knows all the spots locals use, which honestly saves you from circling around for an hour like I’ve done at other places. What really impressed me was how the place feels during different parts of the day – quiet and almost residential in the mornings, then gradually coming alive as the town wakes up, but never chaotic. It’s like staying with friends who happen to live in the perfect spot.
