Old Town Experience – Studio Apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the second floor of a centuries-old building on Cara Dusana, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from Old Town Experience – Studio Apartment. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in small packages. This three-star studio sits right in the heart of Budva‘s medieval walls, and I mean literally — you’re surrounded by stone streets that have been here since the 15th century. The entrance might be modest, but once you’re inside, you realize you’ve scored something pretty special.
The Studio Space
The room itself is compact but thoughtfully designed — actually, calling it just a room feels wrong since it’s really a complete living space. There’s a proper kitchenette with everything you need (I made coffee every morning and even managed a simple pasta dinner), and the layout makes the most of every square foot. The windows face the old town streets, so you get these glimpses of local life — people heading to work, kids playing, that sort of authentic daily rhythm you can’t get from a big hotel. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which honestly surprised me given we’re talking about thick medieval walls.
Location Magic
Here’s where this place really shines — the location is absolutely unbeatable. You’re literally steps from Budva’s main square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant tourist noise. I could walk to the citadel in two minutes, hit the beach in five, and there’s this little local restaurant around the corner that serves the best seafood risotto (the owner, Marko, will probably try to convince you to try his homemade rakija). Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.7, and I totally understand why. There’s something romantic about wandering these narrow streets at night when the day-trippers have gone home.
Practical Considerations
Let’s be real about a few things — this isn’t a place where you’ll find a concierge or daily housekeeping. You’re basically living like a local for a few days, which I actually loved. The building is old, so expect some quirks (the stairs creak, the walls are thick stone), but that’s part of the charm. Parking can be tricky since you’re in the pedestrian zone, but there’s a public lot about a five-minute walk away. The check-in process was smooth — the host met me right at the apartment and gave me some great local tips.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.1 rating and that incredible 9.8 location score, this studio delivers something you can’t get at the big beach resorts — authenticity. You’re not just visiting Budva’s old town, you’re actually living in it for a few days. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the Adriatic just beyond the walls and waking up to church bells. It’s perfect for couples who want to explore, solo travelers who appreciate character over amenities, or anyone who’d rather spend their money on experiences than fancy hotel services. Just don’t expect grand resort services — expect something better: a real taste of what it’s like to call this beautiful old town home.
Exploring Budva offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Montenegro’s coastal jewel, from its ancient citadel to its pristine beaches and lively summer atmosphere.
