Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Palm Park Budva, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in modest packages. This little hotel sits right on Trg Slobode (Freedom Square, for those keeping track), and I mean RIGHT on it. You’re literally in the heart of Budva’s old town, which is both a blessing and… well, we’ll get to that.
The location is actually insane – and I don’t use that word lightly. You step out the front door and you’re maybe thirty seconds from those medieval walls everyone posts on Instagram. The morning coffee spots along Njegoševa street are right there, and honestly, the walk to the main beach is so short you’ll find yourself popping back to your room multiple times a day (which I definitely did). What really struck me though was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. The guy at reception – I think his name was Marko – gave me this whole rundown about which parts of the old town get packed with cruise ship tourists around 11 AM, and when to hit the restaurants for the best seafood before the dinner rush. That’s the kind of intel you can’t Google.
Here’s the thing about being right in the square though – it gets lively. And by lively, I mean you’ll hear people wandering around until pretty late, especially during summer months. But honestly? The windows are decent, and if you’re the type who needs complete silence, just ask for a room facing away from the square. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works. The AC actually cools the room (you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your suitcase. I particularly appreciated that the shower had proper water pressure – again, one of those things you don’t think about until it’s 35 degrees outside and you desperately need a real shower.
What really won me over was the breakfast situation. They set up this spread in their little dining area, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, the local cheese and that dense Balkan bread hit the spot every morning. Plus, and this might sound weird, but I loved sitting there planning my day while watching the square wake up outside. The whole scene felt very… authentic, I guess? Like I was actually staying somewhere real instead of some sanitized hotel bubble.
The staff deserves a mention too – they’re not hovering over you, but when you need something, they sort it out quickly. No drama, no weird policies, just straightforward hospitality. And parking – God, parking in Budva old town is usually a nightmare, but they actually help you figure out where to leave your car without getting towed or spending a fortune.
Bottom line: if you want to be in the absolute center of everything Budva has to offer, with decent rooms and people who actually know their neighborhood, Palm Park works. It’s not luxury, but it’s real, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
