You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Portun II when I first pulled up – honestly, the name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, and three stars had me thinking basic business hotel vibes. But sometimes you get those pleasant surprises that remind you why you love traveling in the first place.

The thing that got me right away was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth (no awkward standing around while they figure out the system), and the front desk guy – I think his name was Marco – had this genuine way of asking if I needed directions that didn’t feel scripted. My room was on the fourth floor, and I mean, it wasn’t huge or anything, but everything just worked properly. The shower had actual water pressure, the AC didn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been folded in half. Small things, but you notice them when you’ve stayed in enough places where they don’t quite get it right.

What really sold me though was the attention to those little details that most places skip. Fresh towels that actually smelled clean, not just like industrial detergent. Coffee in the lobby that was decent – not amazing, but you could drink it without making faces. The WiFi worked everywhere, even in the elevator, which honestly puts it ahead of some five-star places I’ve been to. And here’s something I appreciated – the neighborhood stays pretty quiet after 10 PM, so if you’re someone who needs actual sleep when traveling, you’re not going to be dealing with street noise or slamming doors all night.

I stayed there during what seemed like a busy period (lots of business travelers in the lobby), but the service never felt rushed or impersonal. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work – came back one afternoon to find they’d not only cleaned everything properly but had arranged my chargers and travel stuff neatly instead of just shoving it aside. That 9.4 rating isn’t an accident, you can tell this place has figured out that doing the basics really well beats trying to be flashy and missing the mark. Would I stay here again? Definitely. It’s the kind of place where you know exactly what you’re getting, and what you’re getting is solid.

  Amazing apartment right in the heart of the old town! The host was very friendly and made sure to meet me in person when I arrived so I wouldn’t get lost in the “maze” of the old town streets. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortable, with great Wi-Fi and air conditioning. It is really nice to have a kitchen and a washing machine as well! Highly recommend!

  Location is really good. Very close to the beaches and in heart of old town. Spacious apartment! The host is really nice. The checkout was at 10:00 am but he permitted till 12:00 pm.

  The location was perfect. Slightly early checkin was appreciated. It was Quiet. Cleaner let us in and was very lovely.
  
  What could be improved: BEWARE CASH ONLY!!!! No wifi code written down in the apartment – which makes it hard when your euro sim doesn't work in Montenegro. No Sheets, just a balling towelling mattress protector. When I asked where sheets were I was told in the wardrobe = which was only duvet/quilt covers – blankets were old (Clean???) and overused. So nothing like the photos you see in the listing. Wardrobe door stuck. TV didn't work – and no batteries in the remote. No dish drainer, no coffee mugs, Lots of light – skimpy old curtains. Outdoor area shown in photos is communal and not easily accessed. No shampoo or conditioner. Aircon was not cold. We're up to 40 different accommodations in the last 6 months and this one was very below the bar – I have no idea how it has a suburb rating on booking.com

  What could be improved: the apartment needs some renovation. very soft mattress and old pillows. there is mold on some walls, there is no soundproofing. I also didn't like the early check out.
