Look, I’ll be straight with you about Royal West Budva – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and honestly, that’s exactly why it works. The name says “5 min beach” and they mean it, though I’d say it’s more like a solid 3-minute walk if you’re not dragging a cooler behind you. You know what I love about this spot? It sits in that sweet zone where you’re close enough to hear the waves at night but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the beach bar crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM.

The hotel itself has that relaxed Montenegrin vibe – think clean and comfortable rather than flashy. The rooms are actually bigger than you’d expect for a 3-star place, and the air conditioning works properly (trust me, this matters in July). I mean, don’t expect marble everything, but the beds are decent and the bathrooms have good water pressure, which is honestly more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed along this coast. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets in the evenings – Budva can be pretty intense during peak season, but this little pocket feels almost residential. The staff genuinely seems to know the area too, not just the tourist stuff. When I asked about where locals actually eat, they pointed me toward this tiny place up the hill that served the best ćevapi I had in Montenegro.

Here’s the thing about the location – you’re walking distance from Budva’s old town, but you don’t have to deal with the chaos of staying right in the thick of it. The beach access is legit; you can literally see the water from some of the upper floor windows. Parking can be a bit of a game during August (everything is in Budva), but they’ve got arrangements that work out fine if you’re not picky about walking an extra block. The 8.0 rating makes sense to me because this isn’t about luxury – it’s about being in the right spot with everything you actually need. You’ll spend your days on the beach or exploring anyway, so why pay double for amenities you won’t use? Plus, there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics right rather than trying to wow you with unnecessary extras. If you’re looking for that balance between accessibility and sanity in Budva, this actually hits the mark pretty well.

  What could be improved: – there was no towel service, I was suggested to buy a towel from the nearest shop, luckily I borrowed it from my friend who lives in Budva
  – window blinds in the bedroom didn't work, the host was not going to fix them as they were broken by the previous tenant
  – I had to pay for the stay in cash
  – wi-fi didn't work. I had to message the owner late at night from expensive roaming to get it fixed and they got it working within an hour

  What could be improved: У приміщенні був неприємний запах сирості, хазяїн був нав'язливий постійно писав і хотів зустрітися упродовж усього дня, щоб забрати гроші за приміщення, хоча спочатку ми домовилися про те що залишемо гроші, хотів щоб ми залишили ключі, а він прийшов би коли нас не було в приміщенні. Мені здалося це дуже дивним.

  What could be improved: Δεν έχει ίντερνετ, δεν έχει χώρο στάθμευσης (στην καλύτερη μπορείτε να παρκάρετε μέσα σε ένα ποτάμι και να σπάσετε το αυτοκίνητό σας), ο οικοδεσπότης δεν δέχεται κάρτα ή τραπεζική κατάθεση, δεν παρέχει νόμιμη απόδειξη (για την ακρίβεια ήθελε να μείνουμε μέσα στο δωμάτιο για να περάσει να πάρει τα χρήματα ή να τα αφήσουμε στο τραπέζι!!!). Όταν του είπαμε (1 ενήλικας με 3 παιδιά) ότι δεν είχαμε μετρητά εκείνη την ώρα άρχισε να ουρλιάζει να φύγουμε από το δωμάτιο. Επίσης η καθαριότητα υποτυπώδης, το μπάνιο βρωμουσε και ενώ είχε κλιματισμό δεν μπορούσες να κοιμηθείς γιατί είτε γινοσουν παγακι είτε θα έβραζες..μέση λύση δεν υπήρχε. Αν μπορούσα να βάλω 0 θα έβαζα. Δεν το συνιστώ σε κανέναν, υπάρχουν πολλά ωραία καταλύματα με πολλές παραπάνω παροχές και χωρίς αγενείς οικοδεσπότες.
